Hey all…glad to see us all still at it in some form or fashion. I am currently about four hours shy of completing day 8. I feel okay, just a little sluggish. I read up on electrolytes and took some potassium and Himalayan salt. I’m going to take some magnesium before I go to bed as it makes me pretty tired. I am down 16.9 pounds in 8 days which I’m pretty happy about, finally under 200 pounds at 198.1. However, my weight loss slowed significantly yesterday as my loss this morning was only .2 pounds. But I’ll take it and be grateful for it lol! I really want to lower my BMI to a healthier number because I absolutely hate being in the “obese” category. I’m only 24.1 pounds from getting out of the obese category. I’ll see how far I can go in this fast (up to 30 days) and then do OMAD like @Jessical.

I think I’mma have to drink some coffee come Wednesday when I get back to work because it’s straight reading and writing and the mental clarity I hear about is not there either (along with the energy I hear about). I’m hoping the supplementation will help me get back to where I was earlier on in the fast, but for now, I’m continuing on.

Welcome @Valerie … I know you’ll be able to find the support you need from this great group of people!

@Compdude can you enlighten us on the dangers of having low electrolytes? And also, how much salt do you recommend, I’ve read about a teaspoon at day?

@Mizqtpye

  1. Electrolytes regulate fluid levels in your blood and cells, keeps your pH level normal, enable your heart to beat, aids in communications between the brain and the body, helps blood to clot and helps to build new tissue.
  2. Low electrolyte level can result in: muscle weakness, cramps, paralysis and respiratory problems. If allowed to continue can lead to kidney problems.
  3. If not enough salt can lead to dehydration and headaches.

Personally I let my body tell me when it needs salt. I have a personal jug of Himalayan salt. I just wet a finger, dip it in the jar and stick it in my mouth. I dislike salty water or as one faster succinctly put it, “I’m NOT a fish.” LOL

I workout a lot. Is it possible to workout on such a long fast?

Hope everyone is doing great! I am on day 9 now, finished day 8 a few hours ago. I have a funny taste in my mouth all-day, it’s weird. No bad breath as yet though, stomach is really bloated as well…any ideas @Compdude or anyone. No.energy as yet but I am used to that. I am feeling okay, and will be continuing for as long as possible. All the best everyone.

Yes. However, you can’t add lean muscle mass during a long fast as its very energy intensive and the body has higher priorities.

Also if your body doesn’t have much prolonged fasting experience you will have energy level fluctuations. You may want to freeze or reduce rep counts on exercises, add more rest days or low activity days such as 1 mile walks.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

Mind if I join in? I am on day 7 of a 21. This is my first time doing a 21. I need some company.

I actually made a mistake yesterday, I am now approaching day 9, for some reason I thought yesterday was Tuesday (brain fog). :upside_down_face:

Been there. So glad to have fewer “senior moments” now that I’ve gotten rid of most of my chronic metabolic diseases.

Thanks for that info @Compdude Helpful as always.

Welcome @manunez, we’d love to have you! More the merrier! How’s your fast going so far?

@Shankari_Nagendran, glad to hear you’re doing good after the salt. My BF talked me into drinking strained coconut water out of a whole coconut since its full of different electrolytes. It made me feel super!

Hopefully everyone else’s journey is going well.

Aww, @Compdude, I am almost in tears here, it’s been an emotional few months, with my father’s murder and all that is happening. I have something that I feel proud of, I feel happy. Thank you for all your help and encouragements. We appreciate you. :clap:t5:
