I have a couple of holidays coming up this year and i have set myself some goal weight or clothes size to get to for each of them. One is in about 4 months, the other in 9 months.
I want to be able to feel confident in myself to be able to walk around without a shirt on so getting a lot of self confidence will be sought.
I have done it before, i can certainly do it again and more.

Nothing like having a track record to look back on during times of adversity. Luckily, when I started my journey back in August 9th of last year I had a series of both personal and career accomplishments that I looked back on when I encountered challenges. You should do well. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi, Esther here. Saw your check on video (and you) for the first time. And you come across as enthusiastic, genuine and a delight. I’m on day 3, nearing the end, really… It’s the longest I’ve ever gone without food. I need to lose the last pesky 7 kilos. If anyone reading this can throw some light on how many days I have to fast to lose it, I will be grateful

Hi Esther! (Love your name!)

On average, most people lose around a pound a day when water fasting (it depends a bit on your BMR and daily activities) so in theory, 7 kg would take around 15-16 days. However, I lost less than a pound a day on average during my 30 day fast, and I’ve heard of others who have almost lost the double with a kg a day, so it depends on how much excess weight the body has to begin with, and how much water the body has been holding on to!

@EstherC Welcome! Thank you for watching, I’m on day 3 right here with you! It’s all about focusing your mind so the more you stay plugged in here on the forum and read other people’s journeys, share your own journey in in the daily journal and stay focused on the daily check ins here and on the daily YouTube videos, your mind will be plugged in!

Couple tips:

  • Salt for dizziness, tiredness and lightheaded ness to replenish depleting sodium levels
  • Stay busy
  • Do something visual (like the post it’s on my fridge)
  • Print the calendar and cross off every day you complete you stay zoned in!

Could go through:

  • Flu-like symptoms soon - it’s keto flu when you’re entering ketosis and body starting to burn fat as fuel instead of glycogen (carb stores).
  • Muscle cramps & trouble sleeping - take potassium & magnesium tablets! Links are in the description of the YouTube videos!
  • Headaches and irritability and hunger will pass soon!
  • Day 3 is hardest and after day 5 gets much easier so keep pushing!
  • Do some reading or watch lots of fasting videos to stay focused!

Checking in on Day 3 of 7+ day water fast. Feeling pretty good. Trying to avoid the scale until I’m done. Thinking I need to drag out some old knitting/crochet projects to keep busy. Crochet is pretty easy to learn if anyone is looking for something to fill their time with a new hobby.

@PinkLilCar We’re all on this thread for day 3 if you want!! Water Fasting 2020 January Challenge DAY 3 CHECK-IN

Hi Zohra… Hunger comes in waves. One thing I noticed was the hunger intensity was the same and lasted the same duration as on a normal eating day. Its your mind that knows how many hours you’ve fasted. All your body knows is its circadian clock. If you teach yourself to be mindful of the hunger and ā€œwatchā€ it without emotions, or judgement, you may find coping easier. Day 4 is the best… Can’t wait for you to get there with me!

I’m on day 2. Rested well but awakened with restless arms and weak legs. They feel like linguine but its not too bad.

Lost 1 lb so far. Which is great because I’m already tiny.

This forum is very exciting and motivating! Thank you to everyone actively participating

I’m only on day two but I am noticing how much of what I did for fun revolved around eating.

I usually go to a coffee shop to read and catch up on Research but while I’m fasting I don’t think I’ll do that. May tempt me to get a chai tea.

I also like to go to the movies sometimes, and I usually go to the dine-in theater & order a meal.

Anyone else noticing the connection between fun social activities and eating or is it just me?

Yep. In fact this Tuesday celebrating my belated November birthday with a friend. My birthday happened during my 40-day and he was busy being a full-time student at university and running his part-time computer consulting business.

We plan on lunch at Lucille’s (BB King’s BBQ chain) and then seeing Star Wars. Since I’m not fasting and working on adding lean muscle mass I can enjoy the long time smoked brisket.

I’m glad you weren’t tempted to eat brisket during your fast! Would have taken a strong person to resist that!

@NAEByrd I don’t think it would’ve been a problem. By that date I was 29 days in and after all the suffering and sacrifice I’d put in to get that point there was no way I would have had all of that come to naught for a piece of meat. LOL

I started on January 2nd. This is my 2nd water fast. I hope I can stay on track up to the end of the ,month of May 2020. SW 332.8

@luznegra Welcome to our fasting community. How long was your previous water fast?

For myself, I worked on building up my ā€œfasting muscleā€. I did a 4, 5, 7 and then the BIG 40. I don’t think I would have succeeded with the last one without working up to it. Just letting you know IMHO.

Let me know if you have any questions, because we all here want you to succeed!

My previous fast was 20 days. I did several small ones as well (fell out of the wagon lol). I couldn’t continue past the 20 . And I think I know why now. I wasn’t adding the salt and what not. So this time I gather everything. And I so gratefull for the forum. I was craving something like that.

Isn’t it crazy how all our hobbies and social events SOMEHOW revolve around food? Revamps you’re life and gives you time to focus on new hobbies like reading, learning a language, learning an instrument, etc!
