Yes, the OMAD approach is nice and sustainable in my opinion, as the longer the fast the more I need naps/am too tired to exercise/don’t function super effectively for work. But, I’m definitely considering the autophagy benefits of some longer fasts and am thinking about having a couple 72-120 hr fasts during this challenge. Huge respect for a 21 day @Miramar … after a certain period of time, do you regain energy? The longest fast I’ve done so far is 6 days, and by the end of it I felt absolutely terrible-- super weak and shaky, tunnel vision, almost throwing up. Are these symptoms perhaps a normal wall to push through for longer fasts?
@Kyle, great to hear from you! Seems normal to fluctuate in a general downward trend, so I hope you’re being kind to yourself as you move forward with mindful eating. And I hope you enjoy the 2MAD!
I finished the last 12 hours of yesterday’s fast with dry fasting, which I feel can be super helpful for reducing inflammation and cleansing the body. Broke the fast this morning with some water and electrolytes, then kombucha, then sauerkraut, then an apple-- a little variation on what seems to be the accepted refeed approach here, but I like to break a dry fast with good things for my gut and also fruit-- I think it’s helpful for rehydrating. Feeling good today, and looking forward to incorporating these mini fasts into my weeks regularly! The time saved that I usually take for meals, along with the increased focus an empty stomach can elicit, make for a productive workday.
@Miramar, how are you feeling today with your extended fast?
Hope everyone is doing well today!
