Winter Solstice Slim Down - Greet Santa in your Skinny Suit!

Good morning!

First week of this challenge is done!

How’s everyone? Where are we all at? Do I need to chase down some people?

I won’t do that, but it’d be funny.

Don’t y’all take too long to come back.

The holidays will be here, and you will have an event to go to, and you will open your closet and stare, and you will say “Damn it! I should have listened to Jill!”

I just went down another lb in the last 3 hours :joy:.

175

I slipped in 4 days worth of fasting hours and managed a dinner party and drinking like a fish and still in the 170’s I had cookies and cake bread bagels bad snacks chips and super naughty snacks.

I now know how much effort will be required if I choose to be that wild again.

I will also have a bit more restraint if I give myself some refeed hours.

Good morning!

We are finishing up day 6 of my 50 fasting days.

CW: 173.5

A break at noon. 6 hour window but may cut it short.

So excited! Into week 2 already. I’m going to manifest success and dropping into the 160’s in less than 2 weeks.

Hello! I’m new on this website and i really need some accountability buddies since everyone i know would think i’d gone insane living on water for a month. So do y’all have a Facebook/WhatsApp group or do you just post here every now and then?

Hi and welcome!

You can take this as one outlet, and feel free to start up your own journal as well.

You can set up the life app for your own tracking, and there’s circles to join there to if you like.

I post sometimes on the FB group, other groups, in my journal, in a few different challenges etc.

There’s as much support available as you wish to take on .

You are welcome to join here in this challenge for sure.

We are all working out way through the next 3 months.

The long fasts are great, but there’s a refeed, and then is still followed by more fasting or diet changes as the whole thing is a lifestyle change.

Time to knock off some days.

Good morning everyone,

I have been sick the last week. Still not 100% yet, probably about 50%. Going to get back into the challenge soon. I will update soon.

Happy Fasting or Feeding everyone!

@Kyle, I hope you feel better soon!

@Miramar, hope your day 7 is going well! Congrats on all your progress-- heading to the 160’s in the near future!

I didn’t hop on here for a good bit, but am back online and planning to check in more regularly! I think it will help me maintain commitment if I do… plus y’all are good company. For now, I’m dancing between ADF and OMAD, with the intention of setting a new norm around eating.

Hope everyone is doing well!

I’m a hot mess.

AC IS ON.

Ate today too - feeling like crap because of it. Physically - things getting checked off a “don’t even bother again” list. Something I’ve had in the cupboard for months and wasn’t a trigger, but decided to use up and felt like crap about an hour later.

Went shopping for things (non food) I couldn’t find. Spent hours online finding my solution.

It got really humid and hot out. My clothes making me feel itchy all day.

Friend lost a loved one.

Excuses excuses excuses.

Weird stresses hitting me.

No cream left for coffee tomorrow so it’s a start and won’t be shopping for food.

Need to tame mini me. :joy:

I will break the bad loop I’m in.

@Miramar you are not in a “bad” loop. You are a human being. Now is the perfect opportunity to practice loving kindness towards yourself. Do a body scan: become aware of each body part one at a time and say “thank you. I love you. I promise to take care of you” Compassion and kindness towards ourselves is the most effective way to heal and build lasting habits

Shame from what you think are “excuses” is rooted in guilt and guilt in fear. Look deeply and try and see the root cause of why you felt that way. You are an amazing miracle! So you didn’t follow the exact path you set out for yourself. Expectations are tyrants. Learn, grow, heal, and let go. You have a whole new 24 hours to be spectacular! You can’t “tame” mini me. But you can nurture and love it transforming it into joy. Hold it, forgive it, and say it’s not their fault. You deserve nothing but the most love you can give yourself

You had mentioned your sleep was off the other day. I know when my sleep is bad it can affect me poorly for several days. Could that be what’s ailing you this week? I can take three days to recover from one bad night of sleep.

I’ve decided after a good talk with myself and a look at the calendar I’m going to do it.

I’m officially back on a 21 day fast!

Last time I went for 21 days I had to cut it back to 17.5. I’d really like to get through the full 21 this time. And I have no reason not to make it this time.

I know how to refeed. I know how to handle this. I have ample fat.

I’ll have 5 refeed days under my belt by the dinner party I’m planning for Halloween weekend and I can be in a safe refeed menu for me still on that day.

It’ll take a nice chunk out of my 50 day commitment as well.

I have no other commitments for the next 21 days.

I am literally and figuratively fed up with myself .

There’s emergency bone broth in the freezer - but I’ll be saving that for 21 days from now.

I feel better already.

Good morning!

Last night before I went to bed I noticed great swelling in my ankles and legs. All gone this morning, so guess the system flush is on way.

Started a list of things to get done yesterday (during this fast) that I’ll revisit today.

Forcing some time with the calendar yesterday was very eye opening. Realized the guards were slacking and I could either just keep slacking and get the same old results or kick my ass into gear and get this part of the journey done already.

This pot belly and visceral fat build up is not acceptable. It will be gone.

Good morning! I hope everyone is doing well with their fasting or feeding.

@Miramar, excited for your 21 day challenge! It sounds like you have prepped yourself, physically and mentally, for both the fasting and refeeding. I look forward to hearing how you’re doing throughout.

Over here on the super-duper-short fasting front, I’ll be fasting today. Went for a nice trail run this morning, and am sitting down to a long day with work. Looking forward to it. For my winter solstice goals, I will likely stick to OMAD and fast perhaps one day each week. Though this is a less aggressive fasting schedule, and will thus take me longer, I think it will be better for morale and sustainability.

Have a great day, everyone!

Sounds like a plan!
A friend of mine who isn’t on this forum was excited today and called me.

I got her into doing some fasting about a month or so ago now - she lost some and then it stopped, but she stuck with feeding window.

She finally got the courage up to go OMAD and lost 2 lbs in the last 2 days and is very excited, and she finds the fasting to be easy - easier than trying to eat meals all day.

She’s diabetic and wants to see if she can fast her way off the meds.

So there’s a lot to be said for OMAD, and if you’re tossing in a 48 once a week you will be jamming!

Good morning Everyone,

I am 156. Thats up from 151 just 10 days ago. I know some of it is water weight but the rest of it is not! My fault.

Have to do 2MAD for the next 10 days but I will be mindfully eating (as opposed to what I’ve been doing).

Hope everyone is doing well in their goals this week.

Keep on Keeping on…

Yes, the OMAD approach is nice and sustainable in my opinion, as the longer the fast the more I need naps/am too tired to exercise/don’t function super effectively for work. But, I’m definitely considering the autophagy benefits of some longer fasts and am thinking about having a couple 72-120 hr fasts during this challenge. Huge respect for a 21 day @Miramar … after a certain period of time, do you regain energy? The longest fast I’ve done so far is 6 days, and by the end of it I felt absolutely terrible-- super weak and shaky, tunnel vision, almost throwing up. Are these symptoms perhaps a normal wall to push through for longer fasts?

@Kyle, great to hear from you! Seems normal to fluctuate in a general downward trend, so I hope you’re being kind to yourself as you move forward with mindful eating. And I hope you enjoy the 2MAD!

I finished the last 12 hours of yesterday’s fast with dry fasting, which I feel can be super helpful for reducing inflammation and cleansing the body. Broke the fast this morning with some water and electrolytes, then kombucha, then sauerkraut, then an apple-- a little variation on what seems to be the accepted refeed approach here, but I like to break a dry fast with good things for my gut and also fruit-- I think it’s helpful for rehydrating. Feeling good today, and looking forward to incorporating these mini fasts into my weeks regularly! The time saved that I usually take for meals, along with the increased focus an empty stomach can elicit, make for a productive workday.

@Miramar, how are you feeling today with your extended fast?

Hope everyone is doing well today!
