Starting my 40 day fast

Hello people,
Day 22 completed !
Being craving fatty meat all day. Barbecue ribs, rib eyes and all sorts of yummy meats.
To be honest I’m not a meaty kinda of girl. I’d rather have some perfectly cooked salmon.
It was a weird day. Still not wanting to eat anything but the cravings are there. Especially at night.
I am also noticed some of my clothes fit better which is great !
I really hope the cravings go away soon cuz they are pretty annoying. But I’m also making matters worst by watching numerous cooking shows. :upside_down_face:
Anyways that’s all for today.

Day 23 completed !
Cravings went away during the day, I have to admit I stopped watching cooking videos and photos.
In the evenings I was craving fish but nothing compared to yesterday.
Apart from that nothing to report. Energy and focus is good. Skin is clear and slowly sleeping 5-6hrs since day 20.

Day 24 completed !
It’s actually early day 25 here. I slept off early and couldn’t get my diary entry in.
It was def a detox day, but a mild one. Getting rid of mucus is not fun. But I was able to go about my day without any constraints.
I noticed my mind is very calm, with no more worries or feelings of anxiety - feelings that used to trigger my binging habits. I hope by the end of the fast I get to dissociated those feelings with food.
Also, I have a very bad memory, so I’m hoping the fast can help with that - even if I don’t really have high hopes lol !

Day 25 completed !
Everything was fine until this evening. Another episode of detoxing followed by some cravings of fatty meat. Weirdly, I think even if I decide to eat my mouth won’t allow it.
I honestly didn’t think I will be battling cravings after day 20. I miss day 12-20. :confused:
15 more days to go. Staying strong :muscle:
On the other hand my emotional and mental state is on point :ok_hand:.
I guess I need a couple of more days to get rid of years of bad eating habits.

Day 26 completed !
Hardest day so far. Very low energy, mental fogginess, stomach ache - just an awful day. I hope the next couple of days won’t be as dreadful as today.
I honestly wanted to cry :sob: - lost of cravings but not wanting to eat. Very conflicting feelings and emotions. Just horrible.
I can’t wait for my hunger to be back, for my mouth and throat to want to eat something.
Also I found some beef bone marrow (very rare here) for my bone broth. I also heard chicken feet is great for broth. Anyone has any experience with that ?

I never thought I’d say this - if you told me last year I’d be loving the chicken feet in 2020 I’d probably had told you that sounds crazy.

I do a couple of packages (4lbs) in the crock pot and cooked in the crockpot overnight and then some. Carrot, celery, onions, ACV, herbs if you please.

They look scary :rofl:. And I found it best to cook them and let them be completely falling apart. I’m not afraid to poke them around while cooking.

Double strain through a fine mesh sieve and some cheese cloth.

Let the broth cool, chill in the fridge.

It will turn into a firm jelly.

Measure into cup size portions, drop into freezer bags, and stick in the freezer.

Can be run under the sink for a moment and will slip right out of the bag and into a pot.

Or you can nuke it in a mug.

I use it plain, or as a base for a few different soups.

I add ginger, tumeric, and different flavors after on the reheat.

I start every refeed longer than a three day fast with it.

I’m not a huge beef broth fan. I have a couple of cartons of store bought chicken bone broth around but it’s watery and just isn’t the same.

The jelly broth melts right back down and you can always add water but I like it full flavor now.

If there’s any fat, it will rise to the surface when you chill it and can be skimmed right off the top - I found it extremely minimal.

You can cook it on the stove top, but I like to set it and walk away for hours and get all the nutrients I can get from it.

I will def check it. I live in Paris so I wonder if it’ll get here before the end of my fast. Also I’ve been taking potassium, magnesium and salt every other day. Maybe I should be supplementing everyday ? :thinking:

Thank you Michelle, thank you. I needed to hear that. I’ve been in my feelings lately and this is great. I’m taking it a day at the time. 12more to go and i would’ve accomplished something extraordinary.

Day 27 completed!
Bad day but nothing compared to yesterday’s and im grateful. Weirdly, I think even if I eat i won’t feel better and my body will reject any food right now so I’m hanging in there.
I hope I have better days this week especially on Thursday because I have a very important meeting.
Apart from down nothing much. Just drinking my water and counting the days :joy:. 12more to go.

Day 28 completed !
4 whole weeks without any food. But another very bad day. 3days in a row now and I’m getting worried. Is this normal ? I don’t know what to think. I’ve been feeling great until 3days ago. Does anyone have any experience with this ?. This is the first time I’m really contemplating the end of my fast at day 30. Am I overreacting? I need some input, I’m completely lost. Are there pages on the site where I can ask for advice ?
Please let me know.

Hi everyone,
Unfortunately I had to break my fast. During the night I was shaking profusely with a 38C / 100F fever. I started vomiting early this morning and that was the cue for me. I broke my fast with half a glass of smoothie made of half an Apple, some spinach and little bit of coconut water. I couldn’t even finish it but about 20min later I was feeling much better and just slept it off until 3pm. My partner had to call work to let them know I wasn’t feeling well. And needless to say, he’s not very happy with me because he told me to call it quits the moment I started feeling bad. However, he was kind enough to make me some bone broth for dinner this evening. I have to agree with @Miramar, I don’t like it :joy: and had another smoothie instead. I’m feeling much better and I think it was just time for my body to break the fast.
I don’t really have an appetite yet but that’s ok, I guess it will show up in a couple of days.
Even though I couldn’t reach my goal, I fasted for a whole 28 days - that’s 4 whole weeks. I’m super proud of myself and I really hope my relationship with food has changed for the better.
I haven’t come up with a comprehensive refeeding strategy yet, but that will be my main task for tomorrow along with some grocery shopping.
Will let you all know what the plan is.

Sorry you had to break your fast.

You could always do veggie broth with lots of veggies well cooked in there.

I do cold avocados, kalamata olives, kimchi (gets your probiotics going in the gut), and just broth and soft food the first day. Maybe add soft salad greens by day 2.

Just stay away from bread/pasta things and you should be fine.

You did 28 days!? That’s fantastic, well done. Be proud! I hope you’re feeling much better soon :slight_smile:
