As a former Certified Personal Trainer, I know the complicated vagaries of the human body. I always counseled my former clients to focus on the overall trend and not discouraged by the daily weight scale.
S1E3 40-Day Water Fast & Post-Fast ReFeed Journal
Day 29 of 40-Day Water Fast
Highlights:
- Day 29 complete. 696 hours done. 11 more days to go!
- Weight loss: 1lb. - Back on the 1lb fat loss a day train!
- Blood sugar: 79
- Exercise: 1 mile
Notes:
-
Last night was bad. Had an energy boost so had a hard time going to sleep and then woke up in the middle of the night with a bad case of Keto Breath so had to rush to the bathroom to brush the teeth to keep from throwing up. As a result had to struggle to complete my daily 1 mile walk. Took frequent breaks but I DID finish.

Last 3 days have really felt the neuropathy symptoms in my feet. They were really tingling at night. Nothing debilitating but I’m looking forward to seeing how much of the nerve damage will be addressed when I do the ReFeed and put those stem cells I’ve been accumulating during the prolonged fast to work on how much of the neuropathy it will cure if not completely eliminate.

Today’s my birthday and I celebrated by completing Day 29 of this fast. LOL. I’ve been piling up lunch and dinner celebrations for my upcoming ReFeed. Keeps me motivated!
You are quite the inspiration. However long I do this round I’m sure is the longest I’ll ever go.
Happy belated birthday!! Thank you for being such an inspiration.
Happy Birthday!! Don’t give up
You have an amazing strength, I love to read your journal. Thank you for your support.
Well done and happy birthday! The finishing line is in view - not too far away! Take it easy on the re-feeding. So easy to fall there.
Thanks. I appreciate the support.
You’re welcome. It’s by supporting each other we will all be successful in the end.
Thank you. My ReFeed goals are different from most of everyone here though. I’ll be heavy on the protein to feed the stem cells to repopulate all my major organs that can shrink up to 30% during a prolonged fast. Remember my main goals are to: 1. Reverse my type 2 diabetes. 2. Reverse my Chronic Kidney Disease and 3. Cure my hypertension.
Day 30 of 40-Day Water Fast
Highlights:
- Day 30 complete. 720 hours done. 10 more days to go! The Final Countdown!
- Weight loss: 1lb - Total this fast: 39lbs (9lbs water weight - 30lbs fat)
- Blood sugar: 78
- Exercise: 1 mile walk
Notes:
-
Rearranged work schedule. Delayed everything non-essential to after completion of fast. Luckily with Thanksgiving next week it wasn’t too difficult. Had a good sleep last night. Despite that the walk was laborious. Had to take multiple breaks.
-
Keto breath continues to be a nuisance. Gagged yesterday. Getting to hate the taste of toothpaste and Listerine. LOL
You’ve reached the final leg of the journey. I’m so impressed and enjoy reading your posts. I totally understand the gagging thing, I’m suffering with that a lot myself. This too shall pass and is only temporary!
Day 31 cf 40-day Water Fast
Highlights:
- Day 31 complete. 744 hours done. 9 more days to go!
- Weight loss: 0
- Blood sugar: 79
- Exercise: 1.2 miles
Notes:
-
Got mental clarity boost yesterday. Years ago I took a class through Harvard Medical School’s Extension Program on the connection between Brain Health and Exercise when I was a Certified Personal Trainer for my older business clients. I haven’t kept up on the latest advances in neuroscience but I’m speculating that my body finally got around to cannabilizing all the dead brain cells in my head. LOL
-
Nights continue to be hell. I’d sleep 2 or 3 hours and then rush to the bathroom to rinse the mouth or brush the teeth to get rid of Keto Breath. Only 9 more to go!
-
Maybe its because the nights are rough now but my energy reserves are low. At this morning’s Toastmasters meeting I was able to give my evaluation of someone’s speech but it took a lot out of me. The walk home I had to take a couple of breaks.
-
I’m adopting my old “Death March Project” mentality from my computer programmer/software engineering days to get through the final 9 days. It’s march till you die or you get it done.
Reading this, I’m embarrassed to even complain at all! I remember how many times I had tried to fast my first day and each day would pass. Then I’d consider that if I had started when I had initially planned to, I’d have had it done and over with by now. What an accomplishment this will be for you!
Thank you but its not over yet!
Day 32 of 40-Day Water Fast
Highlights:
- Day 32 complete. 768 hours done. 8 more days to go!
- Weight loss: 0 - Hit another plateau going on 2 days
- Blood sugar: 76
- Exercise: 1.8 mile walk
Notes:
-
Want to apologize for being overly dramatic yesterday. Apparently the last 3 days I hit a noxious store of toxins in the fat I was burning it was draining and the buildup in my mouth was wanting to make me puke. It finally started abating yesterday afternoon and I had more energy on the walk this morning.
-
The weight plateau doesn’t bother me as I can see all the changes happening all over my body. Even my earlobes are getting skinnier! LOL
-
Sleep still getting interrupted by having to rinse my mouth out or brush my teeth but at least I’m not wanting to puke. Got in about 5 hours. So looking forward when this over.
Keep it up!!
Thanks for posting your journey.
Keep it up - it’s like the last stretch of a marathon. The last part is tough, but the finish line beckons, and you look like you’ll make it.
Day 33 of 40-day Water Fast
Highlights:
- Day 33 complete. 792 hours done. 7 more days to go! 1 week!
- Weight loss: 2lbs. Total this fast: 40lbs (9lbs water weight - 31lbs fat)
- Blood sugar: 88
- Exercise: 1 mile walk
Notes:
-
I believe I hit the weight plateau so the body could take a pause to process all the toxins released by the belly fat. Reason is I lost 2lbs after I left the latest detox episode. Will be interested to see what happens tomorrow.
-
Another interesting development, which began on yesterday’s walk, is my hearing has gotten sharper. Yesterday I thought I heard someone walking behind me. I looked back and the nearest person was a block away. Today, again I thought I heard footsteps close by but when I looked around, the closest person was on the other side of a busy city street. Interesting.

Sleep continues to be a challenge. Thank goodness its Thanksgiving week because without getting any deep sleep it would be challenging to do any brain intensive work right now. Only 7 more nights to go!
Are u taking any supplements or salts? Amazing job!!
Himalayan salt, magnesium and potassium.
