Hi @Compdude, @Krista_Groskaufmane, @Overcomer,
Just wanted you to know that I am amazed at how well it went. I feel good, I had energy! So excited! Now to relax.
Wow! Nice! So are you done for now?
I’m about to begin on Monday.
I’m 52 and presently label myself a confirmed spinster.
Thought the TOM was over during lockdown, but it came back so I’m still in open season.
Going for a body reset.
Haven’t weighed in yet, but will be adding that to my journal when I start - with a tape measurement of my waist.
Haha, just noticed, waist/waste.
Anyway, very inspirational and hope you don’t disappear!
Go easy on that refeed whenever that starts.
Keep up the Amazing work!
I should clarify! Not done. Day 18/21. I had just hit a breaking point and didn’t know if I could go on. I had an important event today and almost quit. I DIDN’T and I am feeling good!
Thank you @Compdude for helping me through!
I didn’t assume you were! You go girl!
Good to hear that you feeling good and kept going
Glad you were able to hang in there, we are almost to the finish line!
Day 19 Hour 444
CW 209.8 (-21)
Again felt I needed a nap after showering and getting dressed. This time add in feeling faint. I think no more hot showers, don’t think they are helpful. I wonder if today will be harder because it is my day off, might make it longer. But my body is begging for rest. I did a mass amount of cooking yesterday evening since I felt well, so the family is set. I have zero desire to eat food. I am bored of fasting.
At this point in an extended fast, it takes just as much time or more to plan for energy ups and downs as it does to cook and eat. The beauty of a 7 day is you have so much extra time.
You’re so close to the goal already🥰 rest as much as you can.
Hope and trust everyone is doing well. I am not doing a long fast at the moment, so I am refeeding today and tomorrow, after dinner tomorrow I will do a 3 day fast to take me to Thursday, and I will start again with the group on Thursday night-ready for Friday. I am not sure how many days I will do at the moment, could be 7 days or less. Taking it day by day and building myself up to do another long fast when I am ready for it. My symptoms have been pretty rough so I am slowing it down a little by doing shorter fast and jumping back on. My chronic pain is intense generally but obviously worse when fasting so I have to be careful. At the same time, I am being consistent by not taking more than a day to refeed. I have to lose this weight and improve my overall health, I will not give myself a choice, it is a must and the benefits will be great in the near future, this is what keeps me going.
Yes, go at your own pace. I had to do the same thing on getting more physically fit due to my diabetes ravaged body. From August 9th, when I started, until Dec 31st of last year I limited myself to walking. Only then was my body strong enough to go beyond. Just be patient and persistent and it WILL pay off.
Thank you for the encouragements. I agree it will work out in the end. Your story gives me hope.
Day 20 Hour 466 (38 to go!)
CW 209.2 (21.6)
There is no way to sugar coat this, yesterday was rough! Felt like a slug, totally useless. If I had woken up this morning feeling the same way, I would be having some broth right now. Feel ok today. Moving in slow motion. I have a zoom meeting and an in person meeting. I plan on food shopping after that if I am up to it.
Refeed grocery list: avocado, beef & chicken broth (Fung) (onions, carrots, celery, garlic, chicken bones, beef bones, cilantro, thyme, bay), cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, spinach, mushrooms, goat cheese. Though I am not hungry, these sound so appetizing.
beets(I know its a root, I know it has sugar, I have my reasons, and only eat small quantities 1/2 cup 6 net carbs). I struggle with whether or not to eat beets. They are not keto, but there is something in them that my post-menopausal old-lady body needs. It does not seem to trigger carb craving, but rather keep them at bay. Sautéed beet greens with a half of roasted beet sprinkled with goat cheese is my very favorite thing! Considering it used to be Cinnabon, I’ve come a long way.
I always end a fast with avocado. Not sure how this will work on a 21 day fast, so going to have a sliver and wait to see what happens.
One challenge this week is that we are camping Saturday and Sunday. I will need to prepare my food ahead of time. Also hoping my intestinal system cooperates. I rarely have any issues, but I have never done a 21 day.
That salty sweet beet and goat cheese combo is always delightful! Works great with arugula and pistachios too.
Have you ever tried the powdered beet supplement?
Oh, have you ever made pickled eggs with beets?
You are so close! You got this!
Ending the fast with an avocado is highly recommended from everything I’ve read. As for the beets, I follow the advice from Dr Rhonda Patrick who believes that keto is too restrictive as our gut bacteria requires a wide variety of carbohydrates to feed the wide diversity of our gut biome.
I agree. I am committed to unlocking the mystery that is my body. I don’t follow keto, but do try to watch my carbs.
go Maryann! You got this!!
Thank you! Hanging tough
Less than 24 hours to go! I am going to try sleep a few of those away. So glad I did this, but so ready for it to end. The last 3 days have been very difficult.
So jealous! Still have 3 days to go come 6am. Hating the keto breath.
