Good morning!

190.5

Half a lb to tomorrow’s morning goal.

Getting a few things for the refeed weekend and prepping my menus.

Ok, going to peruse some new broth soup ideas.

I won’t be able to fast because of people around who don’t believe in it. Good day

We are here if you find your way back.

Back to business!

Surpassed the weekend goal by .5 lbs.

189.5.

Should make next week’s Friday goal 187. Pulled some numbers and did the math.

BMI and calories I’m burning currently while sitting on my bum playing tiddlywinks.

2.5 lbs a week for now can be expected in real loss.

It’s going to be a tight race. Another 4 weeks to 177 and still will need another 2-3 weeks on top of that to get that as a result after refeed. I think I gain at least 6 lbs on those.

Here’s the real kicker for me this morning.

If your leptin is high, you’re carrying a lot of bodyfat but your brain just can’t see it.

Mentally my brain doesn’t comprehend me as overweight. I have to see a photo or look in the mirror. It’s not apparent until I sit in a plane seat or go shopping for clothes.

An enlightening piece of morning reading material.

Look into the cruciferous veggies. I saw a video and some articles about how those push the autophagy.

I’d like to fast into fall too!
My initial plan was to do a 21-day water fasting from July 10 to 31 to reap the benefits of a prolonged fast but I had to break it on day 12 as I was too lethargic and making too many silly mistakes at work. In my view, there is no point in extending the fast if I can’t carry on with my daily life. On the other hand, I hate this sense of guilt and regret that I feel whenever I fail to achieve a goal - so breaking down my fasting window into smaller, doable chunks of 7 days and increasing it up to 21 days seems more appropriate for my emotional well-being. This means I need to carry on with this fasting protocol throughout fall or even beyond, although I find it harder to fast longer that 72h in the cold winter season.

I resumed my fast right after my meal and I’m on day 3 today. Hunger is coming in waves but so far I’ve been able to manage it.

My goal is to lose 14kg (31lb) over a period of 6 to 12 months. I’ve lost 5.5kg (12lbs) with the 12-day fast but I know by experience that whatever I gain quickly I lose quickly and vice-versa. So slow and steady wins the race.

Welcome to the club @CS_A !

Your goals are perfect. 72 hour fasts every week will certainly get you there with some clean eating during the week. I’ll be transitioning into 72’s myself after I hit 177. Or drive myself bonkers with the 5 day fasts.

Hi @Adri! Woohoo!

Lots more people joining - great!

Miramar, congratulations on reaching your goal. It’s always wonderful to see a new “decade” on the scale even if you know you’ll be bouncing in and out the next few days.

CS_A, it makes sense to listen to what your body needs. Shorter (although still long) 7-day fasts seem like a good idea. My next “long” fast goal is 7 days, but don’t have it scheduled yet.

I’m doing well with my every other day fasts. Did 39 hrs Tues p.m. to Thurs a.m. Had a nice breakfast and then some soup for dinner on Thursday. Now I’m about 13 hours into another 36 hr fast and having a grumpy attitude about. I want coffee! But I’m trying to stick to water only.

Hi, I have been ready your posts and would love to be part of this Fast into FALL.
Im currently fasting but not sure if I broke it and need your opinion.
My weight : 157.6
Goal: 132 — 25 pounds.
Had the experience of OMAD for month’s and it worked but got stuck even eating clean and exercising.
Started the water fast 117 hours ago but I had a couple of beers ( day 1) and a little of cheese every single day.
Without headache or other pain
I felt energetic and optimistic.
But after 1 pm it has been so difficult each day. Even after day 4 Im still struggling during the afternoon and early nights.
I am happy to be here with you all in this same path.

Yeah, the jury is still out on the coffee thing, but if you don’t care about autophagy and just want to loose weight then go for it.

I need cream in my coffee so giving it up during fasting is a no brainier for me.

I do keep tea around as a first fail safe.

@Adri

So there’s the purist, , the dirty Fasting (or questionable) and then the “not considered a fast.”

I’m afraid the beers and cheese don’t even qualify for a dirty fast🤣. If they did we’d all be skinny fairies flying through the trees.

Clean fast - water, salt. Some electrolytes in their pure form (not those flavored sugar free drink ones). Plain seltzer and mineral water. Nothing with added flavor.

Some people will also allow black tea, green tea, or black coffee. No sweetener. No cream or milk or oil or butter.

Dirty Fasting:
Water with lemon or lime
ACV

Other herbal teas
Flavored coffee
Diet soda
Any sweeteners
Bone broth, bullion
Milk or cream in coffee
Coconut oil
Gum or mints.

When you have any caloric intake, you break the fast.

When you have anything sweet tasting it can automatically spike insulin and screw up the fast.

Any protein (ie bone broth) stops autophagy. It’ll keep you in keto but the low calorie thing can mess up the metabolism if it becomes a daily regular thing.

Having said that, everyone is different and it’s good to know your goals going in.

For autophagy the best results can be found at the 72 hour mark. After that your HGH also keeps going up.

For just weight loss, some can get away with Omad or OMEOD.

For people just getting started who don’t know how the transfer into ketosis will feel they may need to begin with mini fasts and build a fasting muscle.

If you think you are going to break, it’s better I think to have that cup of bone broth and see if that will help you get right back on.

Some people take ACV for upset stomach. This doesn’t help me personally.

In the end it’s ALL MENTAL.
We’ve all had bad programming.

Get the Jason Fung books if you can. Watch his videos on YouTube. Watch lots of Fasting videos.

I’m unable to see the image you posted.

I am so happy to read this explanation. I understand that the couple of beers broke my fast but maybe wanted to trick myself believing in that it wouldn’t and thats why I didn’t had the not hungry phase before.
I have Dr Jason Fung aubible and it doesn’t mention beers in a permited liquid hehe😎.
So it seems that it was a 95 hours of the water fasting ( the clean one  ).
I will make sure to have the bone broth… I did that before and it helps so much. Didn’t know about not being in autophagy after the broth …

I havent lose weight with the OMAD anymore… Stuck in a weight and size. And tired of not achieving the goal of getting back at a normal weight.
Current weight: 157
Height: 5.6
BMI: 26.2 ( overweight).
Goal : 132 pounds
Need to lose 25 pounds.
The plan is to do 72 -84 hours of water fast next week . . Then eat clean . and continue this way until those 25 pounds or off for good.
Thank you so much.!

@Adri you’re welcome!

I was going to ask how tall you are.

Im 5’6 as well but have a wide frame. 132 and I look borderline anorexic - well last time I was there. That’s why I’m going for 145.

Good morning!

Gotta say, love after first refeed I’m a half lb lighter today .

Having yesterday’s broth today and have a giant bag of spinach to do something with.

Hope everyone’s weekend is going well!

And we’re off!
3:30 official start time Sunday.

Week 4 of a 5 days fast.

It’s going to be the best one yet. Because I said so.

Expect to see 186.5 on the scale by Friday.

Wow, just looking at that number is a turn on.

I want to see it now🥰

I’m very full right now.

Finished with a vanilla Oui yogurt. They are coming in these cute little collection jars. I think they are perfect window sill size. Hmmm.

Ok, hope to see you all checking in!

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

What’s everyone’s current fasting plan for the week?

Good Afternoon!
My plan is a 5 day fast this week. I didn’t make it quite 5 days last time so I’m trying again. I’ll see how I feel as it goes on. And I’m hoping to see a scale number in the 160’s even if I don’t get to keep it. I’m hovering around 174/175 right now.
