Fast Into FALL

Hi,
I am on day 6 of my prolonged fast. Going as long as possible. My longest fast was 13 days 10 hours. Hopefully, I will beat my record.

@Sky @Overcomer woohoo!!

Rooting for us all to get as effortlessly through to the weekend!

So I have a mini confession. I’m having a black tea atm. Won’t break the fast but not sure how it might either help or hinder the autophagy for the week. Not going to beat myself up over it too badly as I was thinking about really bad things to have. Struggled all day, not hungry, just a little devil on my shoulder kind of thing. Napped it off. Will mark this as an experimental week with the addition of tea and hope for the best.

My neighbor is stressing me out slightly. I was upstairs in my apartment all day and came down to check on him. It’s raining, and he was napping but said he was sleeping all day, didn’t eat, and then proceeded to get ripped on Bud and fireball. He suffers from depression too and had a client complaint - which is affecting him as he takes his work seriously. Might need to make him breakfast in the morning as he needs to eat with his meds.

He then was comparing our weights and I think secretly he’s afraid for me to weigh less than him. I’m only about 10 lbs away. I said “what are you going to do about it? Shove food down my throat?” He’s only an inch or two taller and has a lot more muscle. He also just misses me cooking for him too, but I can’t do that regularly right now as this is Jill time. I get sad about not cooking something all week. I just may miss cooking more than eating.

I think I got him settled down for now.

No stress no stress no stress!

I want to see that scale heading back down tomorrow. Go team go!

Will be back with morning numbers.

No worries @Miramar black tea is allowed, I have a cup of coffee sometimes. Yes, let’s stay strong and keep checking our whys and we will do this :muscle:t5:

@Overcomer I was doing so good with the pure water thing! But yeah, trying to get over myself. I’ll know by the end of the week if it’s an issue of any kind for me.

The autophagy studies flip flop on the coffee/tea thing and it’s a good part of why I am presently aiming for the 5 day fasting time spans. Guess I won’t know until I test it for a week so there’s that. Worse case scenario I do pure water all next week.

Definitely feel the caffeine giving me a little zip right now.

There is nothing wrong in trying to stick to just water, but I think if it is done for too long depending on each person’s health it can make fasting more difficult. I personally prefer to add some salt, magnesium, coffee and potassium when needed rather than quit.

I’ve read quite a few things that say tea promotes autophagy. Like you, I’m trying to stick to water only, but I really think that’s personal preference and there isn’t enough information to say conclusively whether tea/coffee are beneficial or detrimental. I wouldn’t worry about it. As for your neighbor, he may be a little worried your weight loss will change your relationship. It sounds like you take pretty good care of him.

Overcomer, you’re doing a fantastic job already to day 6. How long is your goal this time? Keep up the great work!

@Sky thanks for the encouragement. I would love to do 21 days. Taking it day by day. Hopefully, I will beat my last fast.

Good morning!

190.5.

Some bizarre dreams I’ll stick in my journal.

Pleasurable start to the day!

Good Morning everyone! Day 2. Things are going well; nothing to report. Hope everyone else is the same.

Good morning/afternoon evryone! Still love hearing all your check ins. @Miramar you’re so sweet caring for your neighbor like that. I actually think it’s satisfying to cook for my husband and watch him eat it. Sure I want some too but I have to tell myself, I’m going to eat it later this week lol

Well I’ve been off track the past week though. Time to get back to autophagy this week, shooting for 3 days.

Sending positive vibes and motivation to evryone! Keep seeing that goal weight and it’s going to come to you!

Good morning!

Today’s update 189!

Getting closer to sticking it in the 80’s.
I’m going to stick it like a gymnastics landing.

Over the midweek hump and Friday coming soon.

Gosh, just realizing how normal this feels this week. The overall reduction of eating frequency. This is most certainly sustainable knowing I’m not prohibited from having anything in the future. That would be much worse IMO than a few days of Fasting every month for maintenance.

I’ve almost never had breakfast regularly - just my morning coffee. But I do snack a lot and my eating times have never really been regulated.

At 52 it’s a very long time of eating habits to reprogram. In this for the long haul. Using every bit left of this covid excuse to get to a happier place with my weight.

My size 16 shorts are a bit stretched out, and by day 2 of wearing them I can actually slide them off with out the button and zip. I think it might be time to order a new pair of shorts today.

The fasting brat has settled down this week. My brain is getting trained to it’s new normal.

8 weeks left to Fall! It’s going to be here before we know it.

I’m 171.2 today. That’s my pre-covid weight. I managed to gain 20 lbs the first month of quarantine (to add to the 35 I already needed to lose). I have to go to work this afternoon so I’ll be having coffee. My goal is water only unless I’m at work then I can have black coffee or tea. My company has about 10x as many employees as they need right now so I’m on call all the time in case they need me. I’ve worked only 4 hours in the past 4 months so it doesn’t happen often. I’m glad it’s today instead of tomorrow or Friday because I’m expecting to be weak and dizzy those days.

Hope everyone else is meeting their goals.

I’d consider it a milestone. :slightly_smiling_face:

Good morning all!

New low today. 188.

Pound and a half to go, maybe by Saturday morning.

Just realizing 183 will be 40 lbs. Almost there! And roughly my half way mark. Some time in the next 2 months. That may call for a party or something.

Spent a few hours watching my 800lb life. Silly how a couple people decided they didn’t need therapy and gained weight after the Dr warned them. Wonder why they don’t just put them on water fasting regimen. And some lost weight for surgery and I had to stop and wonder why they wouldn’t just keep losing that way instead of stomach stapling.

The success rate is normally about 5% with a surgery. The rest has really got to be mental.

Halfway may call for a party. Congratulations.

I have a 12 hour workday today. I’m feeling pretty good right now and hope I feel even better once I get involved in working and forget about myself.

This is night and day difference from how I felt last time at day 4. I’m a little out of breath when I walk, but not dizzy or in danger of blacking out at all.

Good morning!

We are at 80 degrees already at 7am and today is last minute hurricane prep mayhem. The stores will be nutters today.

186.5! Made my weekly goal so happy

Oh snap! 10 lbs away from a glimpse of my summer end goal!

Only way that may get disturbed is if we lose power this weekend. Have made it clear that melting icecream will be eaten if we lose power too long. Hurricane is the only fasting deal breaker. I’d prefer to not lose power and frozen food stay frozen.

Have plugged in batteries to start getting fully charged.

Ok, finishing a cold brew ice black coffee and hopefully will check back in during refeed at 3:30.

I’m back from work. I went to Chicago and Denver, and managed to stick to my fast. I did have a cup of black tea yesterday, but it made me nauseous. I don’t think I’ll do that again. The woman on the plane next to me this morning had a banana. I’m not sure I’ve ever smelled anything so good in my life. Assuming nothing goes drastically wrong in the next 3 hours, I will have made it to my 5 day goal. Yay me! I’ll keep going until I want to stop which may be tomorrow or it may be a couple more days. I have bone broth in the freezer to break my fast with whenever I’m ready.

You sound pretty well prepared and relaxed about this hurricane. I am assuming that means you’ve lived in Florida for quite a while and have experienced more than a few hurricanes before. I’m a California girl. Earthquakes and wildfires? No problem. Hurricanes or tornadoes? Panic and terror.

Hi, I’ve just completed a 12-day fasting, followed by a 5-day and a 2-day fasting during the month of July (7/10 - 7/31). I’ve been through a lot during this past month (including being laid off…) and I will take a break on 8/1 and 8/2. I will resume my fasting schedule on 8/3, starting with a short 72h and building up from that point forward if I feel fine. Catch up with you guys later!

I stay in place, even with the bad hurricanes that came through. My brother when alive I’m sure wanted to have me committed :joy:.

The highway gets packed trying to leave, and you never know when a storm is going to change path anyway.

Crossing fingers the power stays on.

Well held steady 186.5 after refeed last night. Goal next Friday is 184. And to stay under 190 from there on out what ever that takes.

Feeling weird typing 180 numbers. Keep having to edit putting 9’s in there.

I have 19 full clean fasting days done!

31 more to go by September 22nd.

My creamy coffee is delicious this morning but very full after 2nd cup.

Have a great weekend everyone!

CS_A, you are impressively ambitious. I’m feeling a need for a couple weeks’ break after a 5 day fast. I’m sorry to hear you’ve lost your job. I hope you’re able to find something soon. My neighbors on either side of me were laid off a couple months ago. One found a long-term substitute job for online school. The other started her own business - she’s in some type of communications- and I hear her sounding very busy over there, but I don’t know how it’s going. These are tough times.
