Maybe the autophagy stopped but it is just by hours and not days. Maybe a minor set back. Don’t worry about it to much and keep going.
I’m also struggling at the moment. Day 4 is waaaaay harder for me then day 3. Yesterday I was euphoric. Today I’m more bothered by hunger waves and my body signalling my brain it needs food. Or the other way around. My brain is saying stuff like: go eat that tiny piece of cheese the kids left over from their meal. Or: have a lick of the butter. Just one lick won’t bother you so much. And so on! Very annoying. I know we have to sit through another two days before it gets easy. I am looking forward to those easy peasy days. Hang in there people!
Extended Group Fast - Starting March 1st!
My day 4 is worse than yesterday as well… hungrier, and feeling weaker. I’m afraid of taking too much salt, it’s bad for the kidneys. I’ve read that 1 teaspoon per day for an adult is the way to go, so I want to stick to that.
I made lunch for my kids…sandwich with turkey breast, cucumber and mayo.
“Mom, I can’t finish it, you want the rest?”
[holds it 15 cm in front of my face]
“No, I’m not that hungry, I’ll eat later!”
Screaming on the inside “YEEEEESSSSSS”
Not for that tiny amount.
Sipping hot salted water and telling myself it’s chicken broth with dumplings. Please have your salt at night before going to bed. It really works wonders when you wake first thing in the morning.
Also, I am experiencing waves of hunger but definitely in ketosis (strip searched!!! Using keto strips )
Very productive at work yesterday and today. Wonder if it’s because my brain is running on ketones.
Longest fast for me so far.
Bought 6 cauliflowers… Paid the equivalent of 2 usd for it. Couldn’t resist. I’ll be consuming cauliflower rice for 10 days after my fast
I think you should take salt as much as your body is telling you to. Not the average amount recommended for daily intake considering you also have food consumption.
If you take to much salt and your body can’t handle it, you will have a salt flush (diarea) or become very nauseous and puke.
I am actually feeling very low in energy and extremely cold. Feels like I’m having trouble with burning ketones. Day 4 sucks! I’m finding in my head escape routes to start eating again.
I’m on the 70hrs mark and it’s being tough, but I am dip down commited cuz of the results I am getting so far! My joints are not sore anymore and I have lost 3.2kgs so far. Not to speak about the mental strength I am developing. This is by all means the biggest challenge I have ever had in many years. I feel like Wonder Woman!

Hee you guys I had to break my fast. I’m doing my iv infusion today and I was feeling very cold and low. My nurse told me I had to start eating. after a debate I did. Gonna do a refeed and then join again. Keep going you all!

Yes. The science says the brain runs better on ketones than on glucose. Also the brain produces new brain cells during prolonged fasting.
Day 4 today. I got up and had a dizzy spell, I nearly fell down! I was reaching around for something to grab but my vision was all black. I remember this happening once before on an extended fast. I don’t think it’s serious, or is it?
Only if it repeats regularly. Like @Yasemin often says “move like a turtle” during this time.
Yasemin, you are so amazing and I cannot thank you enough for all you have done and keep doing for us! I don’t think I would be on my 2nd 5 day fast if it weren’t for your info and encouragement. I’m still figuring out this forum site (how and what I want to do here)… It’s a FABULOUS site!!! You are so joyful and funny and real. I’m on day 3 and scheduling stuff to keep busy.
