Way to go Anna! Having energy and channeling it towards cleaning and tidying up your environment is so good for you! You pushed through this fast like a trooper! I can’t wait to read your next entries. Bless you
Anna’s Journal 🖤 Post 30 day water fast & refeed
Thank you Veronica! I appreciate your comments a lot
Just a little update on day 6 fasting:
Been sitting on the train for 4 hours now, still 4 hours to go, so I’m a bit tired of sitting down!
I’m still feeling great fasting! This 6 day fast would technically end around 6 pm tonight but I won’t be eating until tomorrow!
I’m at a weight now where I shouldn’t be dropping more, and start to build more muscle and strength again, which I’m excited about!
I want to adapt either an OMAD routine or a shorter feeding window if it’s too difficult to get enough calories in to maintain weight and build muscle in one meal.
Look forward to reading about this new phase of your journey; especially the weight training since I’m sill working on flexibility.
Btw, thanks to you and @Cream35 for handling the situation with dks_toys. I made the decision that this was better handled by a woman than a knuckle dragging oaf of a man!
I’m looking forward to it as well!
You just showcased your level of sensitivity by this comment, therefore invalidating the oaf aspect! lol
Hi Anna, congrats on such a huge accomplishment. Curious, were you overweight to start such a long fast?
Thank you!
No I was never overweight, but I had gained a lot of weight in a short period of time that I wasn’t comfortable with at all! And I needed to rebuild a healthy lifestyle again!
In the 30 day fast I went from 66 kg down to 55 kg (so 11 kg or 24 lbs).
Haven’t weighed myself yet in this shorter fast, but I don’t think I’ve lost a lot more, I’d guess maybe 2 kg?
Edit: after finally weighing myself I was right about my guess, I’m down to 53!
So first day of refeed
I had the first meal at 2pm with some vegetable broth, and waited a few hours until I made some vegetable soup that I blended with the mixer! I didn’t add anything other than different herbs for the flavour!
I still added a little bit of salt in my water this morning, but I haven’t taken any potassium since there’s plenty in the vegetables. Gonna take my magnesium in a few hours before bed, and start with my b12 supplement that I haven’t been taken during my fasts!
Feeling great! I’ve had lots of energy!
Second day of refeed
I’ve been having a lot of energy today, and barely spent a minute sitting down. Just been running around the house and doing errands. It feels good though, to feel more alive again after so many months of last year where I felt so drained and unmotivated.
I took a long walk before having my OMAD lunch that consisted of the same soup as yesterday, along with some cucumber and cherry tomatoes on the side.
I’m sorry if I won’t be able to be as active here for the next days, I have many articles to write and some exams for school for the next two weeks, but I’ll do my best!
I’m happy so many people have been able to reach their goals so far, and that the ones who’ve struggled are still fighting strong!
It’s nice we now have several of the newbies reaching out to support the others.
Focus on your articles and exams. We’ve got the troops now to hold down the fort. If I need your expertise, I’ll tag you.
Third day of refeed
I got such a nice rest during the night, I was falling asleep right away and woke up quite early (hoping that I’m finally getting my routine back).
I’ve been feeling well today, and have been having a lot of energy. I did a light workout before lunch, but otherwise I’ve been studying all day. Got myself a standing desk now which was a nice gift to my body.
My OMAD lunch consisted of some mixed steamed vegetables, along with fresh spinach, avocado, cucumber and red paprika. I tried a little bit of sauerkraut as well, even if I’ve never been a fan of the taste myself, it might taste better to my gut bacteria!
I feel like my body stays full and satisfied with the meals for a much longer time now after fasting! I don’t have those meal routines where the hunger comes on specific times anymore!
Yes. That reminded me that I’m experiencing the same thing since the 40 day.
It’s an amazing feeling know you control the hunger rather than the other way around.
So far, the only time I’ve given into hunger was the recent period I’ve been sick and it was only that one day. Yesterday, I did have a pang of hunger between my 1st meal and the delayed evening meal but I ignored it. Have you had the same experience?
I felt a slight hunger/ empty feeling some day when doing the 5 day refeed, when there was a long period between last dinner and lunch/dinner the next day, but not so far in this one!
It hasn’t been that long into the refeed yet, so it might change! I think in my case that it was because the foods I was eating that day were very “light” and easy digestible so the stomach wasn’t full for long, compared when you eat more fibre, protein or starch!
True. That’s why I start the day with my kickstarter meal of coffee & carbs followed 2 to 3 hours later with my main meal with mainly proteins, fat and a little bit of carbs then back to fasting until the next day.
Fourth day of refeed
I’ve been full of energy today as well! I did a workout before lunch again, and moving my body a lot during the days now has helped tremendously with getting enough sleep. It’s also fascinating how quickly the body’s neuromuscular system adapts, even though i haven’t been doing something heavy or too challenging!
Even if I don’t always manage to fall asleep right away, I sleep more deeply and uninterrupted until I feel rested!
It might also be because the body is rebuilding more than “usual” after the fasting!
So my OMAD lunch today consisted of a warm salad, I basically mixed steamed vegetables like haricot verts, water chestnut, and paprika’s with fresh vegetables like spinach, white mushrooms, avocado and herbs! I put some tahini on top and had a little sauerkraut on the side as well!
My stomach is working well so far!
nice! sounds like this fast also taught you how to be more intuitive with your body too
Definitely, I think that’s the part I feel most grateful for! Weight is just a number that will fluctuate more or less throughout different parts of life, but I haven’t been feeling this well and trusting my body like this in a long time! And I know I will have to be cautious to not fall back into the same traps, but it was a great lesson to go through!
Fifth day of refeed
I had a good nights rest again of uninterrupted sleep! Still feeling very energetic!
As a work out today I did some stair running, and even though my cardio isn’t great at this point, it went better than I expected! I just did a few body weight exercises afterwards, but nothing too exhausting!
Had my OMAD lunch pretty similar to yesterday, but I added some butternut squash, walnuts and pumpkin seeds!
Besides that I’ve just been studying all day, with a few breaks to just move around!
Congratulations on the uninterrupted sleep. I’m not quite there yet.
Do you do any foam rolling at all as a warmup or a cool down or not because you don’t suffer any myofascial tissue issues?
