2nd Annual “March Madness” Fasting Challenge
My fasting stickies. Hopefully I will fast long enough to rip them all off !! I’ve actually written the day’s number on the sheet behind.
Ahh this thread is so inspiring!! I can’t wait to do this! Lighting isn’t great in this pic but here are my stickies. I have about 50 pounds to lose and hope to make a big dent this month

My WHY
I can give a thousand reasons why I want to lose weight but basically they all boil down to this: FREEDOM!!
Freedom to just sit down instead of fearing a chair will break down under my weight.
Freedom to just go on long walks without thinking if I will even make it half way.
Freedom to just squat to play with my son without being able to get up.
Freedom to not care about pictures being taken.
Freedom to walk around the house naked without feeling huge.
Freedom to eat around people without thinking about their thoughts about me.
Freedom to book an airplane ticket without the worries whether I will be able to fit into the seat or not.
Freedom of the constant thoughts of food.
Freedom to buy clothes I actually like instead of just anything I can find that’s fits.
Freedom knowing that I am at a healthy weight.
Freedom of sugar rushes and being hangry.
And right now, through fasting, I CAN be free again, if I maintain disciplined.
So right now, discipline ultimately means the freedom I desire.
Best to skip gum, lots of gum have sweeteners or aspartame etc. And can spike your insulin!
Best to keep a clean palate and try to have water above anything as much as possible (makes the journey pretty exciting like a palate cleanser)
I just woke up and I feel so optimistic.

Focused Motivation
I read a post on fb a few days ago from a woman who lost 50 lbs during a 30 day waterfast.
50 lbs
30 days. Only freaking 30 days
So I started imagining just what it means to lose 50 lbs:
*I would actually almost have a healthy BMI
*I would be able to wear my goal jeans
*I would be weighing a weight I haven’t seen on the scale for the past 25 (!!!) years
*If I lose only half of that in the next 30 days, I win $2228
All of that in just a month. Right now I have been alive for 575 months. Half of that I have been over 220lbs and not really living.
So what if, for just a month, I can laser focus on myself, my health and my goals… what if…
So yeah that post got me thinking, and wondering… just WHAT a 30 day fast could do to me, my body and my life in general…
Guess who is motivated here?
This is amazing Miri!! I’m so glad you posted this. So motivating. I want to lose 50 pounds and it’s so exciting to think I could achieve it this month. You are so right that on the grand scheme of things it’s just a blip in our existence. Two months have flown by this year, and March will too. We just need to stay the course. I believe in you Miri, myself, and all of us here!
That same woman told me to believe. Believe you can do it. Because you CAN do this!
One month really is Nothing. You don’t stop eating forever. Just for a month.
One month for me, is like 0.17% of my life! That is like nothing!!
So yeah, let’s do this all together
I am so excited to be doing this fast with you all!! Gabby I followed your fast last year and it was so inspiring. My main reasons for fasting are to break old habits (and especially sugar addiction), to completely cleans both physically and emotionally and also to lose weight. My aim is around 2 stone but if I start to look too thin I will alter my fast to reduce weight loss but keep going with the other benefits. That will be a nice position to be in!
