Hey I’m new at this , I’m doing my 21 days water fast started today 14/12/19 at 1030 am till 4 January . However I’m still gonna have lemon with my water and mint , also herbal teas and maybe some mct oil. Eventhoe im not doing it only for weight loss i was wondering , Will I gain all the weight back? Or will my metabolism slow down ? PleaSe if anyone know let me know .

Slowing metabolism only happens during caloric restriction diets because its been shown that the body consumes both fat and muscle with the calorie restriction. A large part of your metabolic rate is your amount of lean muscle mass.
Dr. Benjamin Bikman of BYU just submitted a study for peer review showing that ketones preserve lean muscle mass during a fast.
As for gaining weight back after a fast, yes you will gain some weight back. The reasons are:
- During a prolonged fast, your body will canibilize dead cells from your major organs. Also during a prolonged fast your liver will crank up production of stem cells. When you start your ReFeed, your body will start converting stem cells into new cells in those major organs which will have shrunk up to 30%.
- You will lose some lean muscle mass but those come right back during ReFeed. Just remember to include a significant amount of protein In your meals to feed those stem cells.
Finally, the hardest part is not falling back into bad dietary habits during the ReFeed. So just be aware of that.

And what about exercise ? I do wanna keep moving my body . I Tun and do Muay Thai . But I dk if I’m gonna be able to that fasting . ( however my fast will includ coconut and mct oil that would give me more energy I guess) let me know . Thanks !
Fasting, by its very nature, is stressful to the body. Especially if this is the first time you’ll be undergoing the transition from glucose burning (carb/sugar) to Ketosis (fat burning). From experience and observing other members in the forum, whatever physical fitness shape you are in is where you will stay at during the fast. Just monitor your energy level daily. If it starts dropping, dial it back on the # of workouts and/or intensity. For myself, during my recently completed 40-day water fast the most physical demanding thing I did was a 1 to 2 mile daily walk. I lost a total of 47lbs (9lbs water and 38lbs fat).
