Want to start water fasting need tips and help from you guys :)))

Greetings folks

I just joined this forum so glad I did and I need tips from my water fasting fellows here

I am 29 year old

Male

I weigh about 100kg and my height is 171cm

I want to start fast more like a 15 days or more

My Questions are

*Do I have to prepare for it? Like from from light diet ?
*I have nicotine cravings is it okay with fast to use smth in snus form while water fasting?
*Do I need to use branded mineral water or home filtered water will do?

  • I am suffering from Hypothyroidism I have seen some people water fast with condition some even claimed they healed their thyroid

Also since we are on road to lose tremendous amount of weight will I get loose skin after losing weight?

I am literally tired of this weight I wasn’t always 100kg bad diet, lifestyle and hypothyroidism got me here

I am way too much stressed and depressed due to this I don’t take pictures don’t even like to look at myself mirror

Hello techyrock.

Good luck with your fast. I started yesterday myself. It always helps to start preparing by eating light or eating omad. But I have also fasting by jumping right in. It’s mostly mental. So sometimes I might have committed without preparation. I can’t speak to the nicotine craving as I have never smoked. But I do know there isnt a water type "requirement " any water will do. I prefer to use alkaline water 50% of the time I’m fasting. But my most successful fast was 10 days on home filtered pitcher. I would drink what you enjoy most. Hope some of that helped. You know another option is to start with a short 3 day fast. Not much preparation needed. But I’m here for you when you are ready to start.

Q1. Do I have to prepare for it? Like from from light diet?

A1. Yes, too many people don’t understand how physical and emotionally taxing on a prolonged water fast is. I explain to people you don’t expect a person who can barely walk around a city block to then run a marathon the next day. As a member here since last October, I’ve seen too many members crash and burn by taking this too lightly.

Here’s what I did: 14 days breaking my carb/sugar addiction. This eliminated cravings during fasting and binging on refeeds. This is optional if you don’t suffer from this addiction. I then spent 11 days doing Intermittent Fasting (16:4, 18:6, 20:4 & OMAD aka One Meal A Day). Then I did prolonged waters fasts of 4, 5, 7 & then 40 days. Currently on Day 13 of a 21-day. As Yas’ likes to say, you’ve got to build up that fasting muscle.

Q2. I have nicotine cravings is it okay with fast to use smth in sinus form while water fasting?

A3. I began with Smart Water but then switched to home filtered water during my 40-day and it was fine.

Q4. I am suffering from Hypothyroidism I have seen some people water fast with condition some even claimed they healed their thyroid.

A4. I consult weekly with an endocrinologist at the University of Southern California Medical School, he just answered this question for someone’s mother who has Hashimoto’s who wanted to water fast. Here’s his answer:

I would think it’s fine, no contraindication as far as I can tell, as long as she continues to take her thyroid medication (if she is on thyroid medication).”

Q5. Also since we are on road to lose tremendous amount of weight will I get loose skin after losing weight?

A5. During water fasting your body will be using the processes of autophagy (recycling damaged parts within a cell to renew itself and apoptosis (killing off damaged cells to be cannibalized for energy). Therefore, loose skin will get consumed as your body fat percentage drops. I’ve seen this myself having dropped 85lbs since August 9th of last year.

Thanks for the detailed reply mate,I am aware about Intermittent fasting but I’m sorry I am not following you with these 16:4,18:6,20:4 for instance 16:4 or 16/4 means 4hr meals 16 hour fasting?

Yes, that’s correct 16:8 meaning 16 hours fasting between the last meal and the first meal the following day and you have an 8 hour window to eat.
