Vitamins and Matcha tea 🍵

Hi all!

Wanted to ask you if someone has tried to water fast for extended periods of time and has consumed vitamins ? I was thinking about starting my waterfast ( period of time not defined yet) and thought it might would be a good idea to drink one Matcha tea daily along with vitamins, magnesium and calcium.

Is this recommended?

Thank you

I’ve done multiple prolonged water fasts: 4-day, 5-day, 7-day and 40-day. Never took vitamins as instead relied on nutrients release by ketosis. Drank water only. But my primary goal was NOT weight loss, it was the canibilization of dead and senescent cells from my major organs and the cranking up of production of stem cells in the liver. Coffee and herbal teas have xenobiotics, substances not naturally produced by the body and have to be metabolized in the liver. However, during my recent ReFeed and starting a new Restore and Rebuild Lean Muscle phase my goal has changed and I’m drinking coffee and considering it NOT breaking fast as my goal has changed.

Bottom-line: If your goal is weight loss, the herbal tea won’t break fast and its more of a personal choice regarding the vitamins in my humble opinion.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Thank you for that data.

I have done a 3 days water fast previously, but at night, the cramps on my legs wouldn’t let me rest. So I read about magnesium and potassium would help controlling the cramps and also the sleep. To maintain my blood pressure at normal levels I used Himalayan salt. I usually have low blood pressure and if it becomes lower, I am at risk of fainting.

Will try not to consume anything for my first days, until I notice uncomfortability. Then maybe I start with the vitamins and tea :cherry_blossom:

My goal is fat loss and hopefully end my sugar addiction :mask:

One of my medical issues was hypertension, aka high blood pressure. So I can’t help you there. I haven’t seen much on prolonged fasts for people with low blood :drop_of_blood: pressure but that’s probably because I had the opposite problem.

Yes, during my prolonged water fasts I took Himalayan salt with magnesium and potassium supplements to address electrolytes needs.

As long as the tea is matcha herbal and not a matcha latte from Starbucks, you won’t break ketosis or autophagy. During a fast, I’m very exacting about what I do/don’t ingest. The electrolytes are essential for me. Because I’m after healing, I also take Dr. Morse tinctures (herbal) that are specifically focused to facilitate healing. During fasting I don’t consume vitamins…not necessary. Strongly recommend researching any action taken during a fast. There is so much information and each of us an individual with different concerns and health. There are general guidelines, but ultimately we have to decide what is best for our situation. Great that you are here and wishing you the best throughout your fast.

Coming in a little late here but I think I have something to add.
I fasted for healing. I was in the healthy weight range but at the top of it. I am now in the bottom of it and I was struggling with nutrional deficiencies and fatigue in a big way.
31 day water fast
I definatly benifited from taking magnesium, Potassium and salt.
I would have had to stop if I hadn’t. I started a 21 day water fast and by the second week I needed them and the whole fast turned around after I started taking them.
I didn’t concern myself with what else they where with, I was quite restricted in these suppliments availiablity.
I’ve added my heart rate monitoring below. It shows the whole fast. Each dot is a day… i went to the doctor’s when it hit 54 but I had already taking suppliments. And I haven’t had the results yet :joy: (pointless exercise).
Because I feel fine :joy: and my heart rate is just still… Low which is apparently good
