Build up that fasting muscle girl!
Stacias Journal
Love that! I have to remember that phrase, and work towards it … ty!!
Just saying hi all ! On day 2 of water fasting… doing Miramar’s suggestion of working on my fasting muscle … I’m not planning a long one right now, I’m just working on short (24/48/72’s)… but at the minimum it will be a 24 hour OMAD (no eating multiple times a day, not even a small snack) … if I go 72 great! Committed to getting myself healthy with a FAST / EAT / FAST lifestyle … learning to live life in between without turning to food for every emotion (good or bad)… I’ve learned more this past 6 weeks on this forum than all the damn food addiction books and therapy over the years! Feeling grateful today … love ya all, really I do. You guys have become my little tribe
. Thank you!!
Yay! Day 2!! You are doing great!!
Thank you Kyle!! On day 3 now ! Woo hoo … I’m getting a “72 hour fast” knocked out . I’m going on an all girl camping trip this weekend but already planning to do OMAD (even planned what to eat) but I may also be sneaking in a few vodka sodas ! Ha. Will reach for another 72 hours next week. I’m loving my “bottom line” is OMAD because even just that is great to me. I’m continuing to read posts and so happy for everyone, we are all on our way to health and feeling good in our own skin !!
Hi Stacia!!
Just wanted to say hello and see how your girls trip went? Hope all is going well!
Miss you lady!!
Good morning all! Thank you so much for the hellos ! I’m here for sure, got home yesterday from my all girls camping weekend … it was very fun. I have had some pretty high anxiety the past 24 hours, finally starting to come down from it. I am assuming it’s due to the non stop socializing with so much talking and sharing, etc? I’m not sure. I’m pretty much an introvert so this was a pretty big whammy of no alone time. It was great though. Lots of laughter and bonding. It’s our 3rd year in a row so pretty cool it’s becoming an annual thing and the fact that I actually went with my Shame of all the weight I’ve put on was a miracle in itself.
I did alright with eating considering … I didn’t eat any sweets or sit and munch on chips or anything (unheard of for me!). I did drink alcohol throughout the day and ate some amazing meals. Yesterday I just read everyone’s journals and trying to decide what to do moving forward? A long fast? 48’s? 72’s? Hmmm … I love the whole challenge that’s been started for fall … I definitely want in but trying to decide what I’m capable of committing too !? I can definitely tell my mindfulness of what I’m eating has been wayyyy up which has been so amazing … It’s been ever since I’ve joined this group … This journey is just so cool !!! I’ve been super consistent with OMAD since my 9 day fast and that’s been great but not a lot of weight loss so I for sure need to step it up!! Hugs to all of you all! I’m rooting you all on and I need you guys, so thank you for being here!! Will update very soon !!!
Welcome Home from your trip! Would love if you join the solstice challenge. Do it in baby steps… maybe you decide to cut grains and carbs w/your OMAD. Maybe you do OMAD for the first few weeks then switch to 36 or 48 cycles… whatever you feel best on. It’s up to you. Glad you’re back!
Yes! Come join us!
It’s good to mix up the fasts and keep your body guessing. I watched a show today on that very topic.
They were discussing OMAD even, and how even that can be mixed - dinner on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and lunch on Tuesday and Thursday kind of thing. The body adapts if you eat the same time every day.
I’m doing a 60 hour now (2.5 days) and will do 36’s, 48’s, 72’s and keep the shuffle going in some random order.
Hi all! So many new journals, I’m reading all of them and can relate to so many posts. I’ve spent the last few days journaling and trying to figure out what I am willing to commit to and not just saying “yeah, I’ll do that too!” And then failing. Grrr … done enough of that and probably will again but every little step forward is progress so no love lost right?!
I’m committing to 5 day water fasts, one day eat. Repeat. (And no wheat or sugar on my eat days). Sugar won’t be hard but wheat will (sandwiches, burgers, croutons … etc). I’ve tried many of the gluten free breads and thankfully I don’t like them.
I downloaded an app on my phone that counts down 5 days at a time and it’s great to watch the timer move… ha. I started today at 5pm so I’m a whole 3.5 hours in. Lol. I figured I did 9 days so 5 with an eat day in between the next 5 should be doable! I really have some weight to lose and would love to wear some of my smaller clothes by Christmas!! OMAD has been great for binging and food addiction but not so much for weight loss.
I will be working hard on staying with my emotions and dealing with them where I’d normally shove them down with food. This ain’t easy for some of us!
Hugs all you fasters, we can do this!!
Woohoo!
You’ll want to focus on extremely healthy options on those 1 day refeeds. I don’t think I could even manage carb safe bread. I skipped all the crackers and bread while doing the reverse 5:2. It seems to blow my stomach too much after fasting.
As a vegetarian keto-er that also doesn’t ingest any gluten/sugar (I’m not anti gluten by any means but after being a pastry chef for the last decade I don’t want to see another bag of flour/sugar for a long long time) I think it’s easier to not try and replace gluten. It’s just like fasting. You’re just not eating those items any more. Just like fasting the craving go away after awhile. I have burgers, tacos, and sammies with crisp lettuce or Parmesan rolls, and I use chia/flax crackers and parm crisps as croutons/crackers. Good luck! If you need any more ideas I have a great pantheon of healthy whole food flour replacements.
Yay Stacia!
Looks like you and I are on day 1 together. Read my journal for the down-low.
What app are you using for your countdown?
Yes! Thank you for saying that ! I agree … I think the wheaty/bready Foods is what’s keeping me from losing weight with OMAD. I know about carnivore and keto but I’m trying to balance weight loss and figuring out a lifestyle and not a “diet” that’s not realistic for me to stick to (can you say YEARS of trying? )… the no wheat will definitely help I’m sure… thank you Miramar !
Thank you Kristy! I’m even more motivated after your reply ! I wrote those items down and will definitely keep in mind your offer. I forgot you were gluten/sugar free! Funny about being sick of them after all the years of cooking . Those two ingredients just seem to be too stimulating for me and I get in a frenzy and want more and more
… thank you again !
Hi Kyle!! Day 1!! I just downloaded the free app called “countdown”, it was the first one I saw. There were numerous free ones that may be better but I just wanted one that will count my days down. Actually I wanted one that used hours only but it appears I’d have to pay for it. I may soon, not sure yet.
. I’ll go read your journal …
Oh yaaaa!!! Thank you !
