Soooo smelly!

Does anyone experience an assault on your olfactory senses while fasting? I get that I stink from entering ketosis, but my problem is that I can’t tolerate the smell exuding from drinkers. It doesn’t smell like alcohol. It smells bitter, pungent and absolutely nauseating. Everyone who is a somewhat heavy drinker smells exactly the same, and the heavier the drinker, the stronger the odour. Google won’t give me any insight into this. As soon as I start eating again, the stench disappears, I don’t ever notice it. Is it just me?!

I’ve been with the forum since Yasemine established it in October last year. You’re the first that’s brought it up. You may want to ask @Yasemin.

Hi,
From my experience all senses seems to be extra sensitive, everything smelled stronger to me. I agree with @Compdude that @Yasemin might be able to give you more information about this.

Is it acetone?

I remember one time a child care giver said she could always smell sickness in a child. Not sure if she meant fever or what.

I don’t get that smell, but some people get that super metal - acetone-like smell for sure, I’ve heard of it! I have just never experienced it!

I get a heightened sense of smell for the yummy stuff deeper into my fast, but none of the metal type of smell!

Hmmm, weird. It’s not an acetone or metal odour that I smell. It’s definitely to do with a body metabolizing alcohol, because non-drinkers don’t smell like it. It’s like pheromones or something, because it literally lingers in a room after the person has left it. It’s so pungent and awful it makes me nauseous. Once I start eating, poof! Gone.
