PinkLilCar's First Fasting Journal

Hello Journal!

This will be my first time using a journal for fasting. My goal is to go 7 days. My longest fast before this one was 90 hours. If I feel good I plan to continue. I’m also doing Dry January so fasting now is great! I get to work on two goals at once! I’m 36 hours in and feeling great! I got this!!!

I hope you are only doing Water Fasting as Yas put up this announcement a couple of days ago:

Otherwise, welcome to the community!

Oops sorry. Dry January is not drinking alcohol. Not dry fasting. I’ll be more clear in future posts.

Yes yes Alipio “Dry January” means no alcohol it’s a common term!

I’m sure @PinkLilCar wouldn’t skip water for 31 days!!! Hahahaha <3

That’s an amazing goal!!! Love it! Keep plugging away and journalling daily, it will help you with reprogramming your mind and staying committed!

Journaling post for middle of day 3. 63.5 hours into 156 hour water fast

Here are some starting stats:

GW 135
Longest fast 90hrs
A 51
H 5’2"
BF 37.3%

Feeling pretty good.

Yesterday at lunchtime someone at work was eating something with heavy garlic. It smelled so good but I wasn’t really hungry. I just enjoyed the smell and told myself “Smells are free”

I’ve watched a bunch of the videos and whenever I’m tempted I hear Yasemin reminding me “My body is a gourmet meal” and “I have the rest of my life to eat” and “You can do this, your amazing”

I got a Nintendo Switch game for the holiday called the Ring Fit Adventure. It is basically HIT workouts but you are distracted by the game aspect of it. The game tracks actual workout time as you play it. I’m shooting for doing 15-30 min most days during the fast to also slowly build some more muscle and stay fit. Lots of squats, running and isometric resistance. Yesterday I played for 20 min. I also indulged myself with a bath using lavender and peppermint oils. I’m reading a pretty good book so I went to bed early.

I am a bit worried about the weekend when I won’t have work to distract me. I think I need to drag out some old knitting projects to keep me occupied. I also got Pokémon Let’s go Evie for the holiday so that is a good distraction.

Ok that’s it for now.

@PinkLilCar Good job. Monitor your energy levels closely. When they start to drop start reducing your workouts.

Fasting by its nature is stressful to the body. Don’t want to overload it. From my analysis of the last 2 fasting challenges, coming in at #4 for reason that a fast fails is due to not cutting back on workouts. Had one member reporting fainting at work.

We all want you to succeed. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you @Compdude for your concern. At this point I’m only planning on 7 days which would be my longest fast so I’m not too concerned about adding some light exercise in that time, but if I feel well I may continue past that and then I will for sure be careful to re-assess and cut the exercise.

Ok end of day 4 of 7 water fasting. Feeling pretty good. Earlier today I was light headed and a bit nauseous but I took salt water and felt much better. I need to do a better job of staying on top of that going forward. A good lesson. I had to get out of the house so I went to Walgreens and got a tongue scrapper, some green tea and some biotin.

I decided I’m not going to weigh myself until end of day 6 or maybe even day 7. Hoping the scale then will encourage me to keep going after reaching my goal of 7 days.

Over half way now. I got this!

I don’t weigh myself either during the fast, I find that I get distracted by it! I just trust the process and weigh myself when the fast is over

Ok end of day 5 of 7 water fasting. Slept great but I am still very low energy and very tired. Made sure to take salt throughout the day and my headache is gone and not as light headed as this morning. Also very cold again…which means it’s working, right? More positive news is that I have broken my longest fasting record. My prior longest was 90 hours.

Another thing I noticed today is that my heart rate is increasing if I do any activity for long. I took the dog for a quarter mile leisurely walk and it went up to 110 (I’m normally around 80) Going to keep my eye on that.

Since I’m tired I took some magnesium and potassium and I’m heading to bed early.

I’m a bit worried about heading back to work tomorrow. I have the tools needed though…salt, acv and lots of water. I’m going to think positive thoughts! I can do this!

This group is really helping me to stay strong and believe in myself. Thanks to all!!!

Congratulations on your fasting record! You’re doing great! :tada::tada:
I believe it’s normal to get an increase in heart rate during activity during fasting, even minor activities such as showering caused that for me at some points, mostly during the later parts of my fast!
I hope work goes well!

Ok I feel in better but I’m still super tired and cold.

Hoping I’m over the hump now. Going to bed early again so I’ll check in tomorrow.

Ok I’m still going. Day 9 of my 7 day water fast. New goal is 10.

I wanted to post a funny that happened so I don’t forget it.

I have never done Keto but I decided, thanks to this group, to try it for a while after I re-feed. So, I got a new book called Keto Meal Prep by Liz Williams. I was planning on stopping at day 7 so I went shopping and bought all the needed ingredients for the first series of meals. Then I decided to go 3 more days. So…I decided I would just make all the meals and let my husband eat some, and freeze some, and have some myself after 3 days. So I start cooking up a storm. Now my husband thinks I’m crazy, I mean really crazy, doesn’t get the fasting, was flabbergasted when I told him I was going to go 3 more days, just really not on board but knows it won’t do him any good to say something. So last night after he has tried a couple of the recipes (because I can’t) and he tells me they are good. I go in the other room and I said to him as I’m leaving “My back hurts” and he from the other room says “It’s probably hungry.”

Hahahahaha…

Ok this is it. One hour to go and I will complete day 10 of a 7 day water fast.

I feel like I could keep going but I have 3 work lunches next week so I’m going to re-feed over the weekend and do keto next week and will maybe start up later in the month with water fasting again.

Through this I also reached another mini goal of loosing 10 lb to get me out of the overweight category and into the normal range. I know I’ll gain some weight back but if I can maintain around this weight for a while I will be happy.

Next goals: loose another 10 lb and get off of high blood pressure medicine.

Looking forward to my bone broth smoothie in the morning, My first meal of the decade.

Healthy in 2020!

Congratulations! :clap::clap::clap:

Way to stick with it.

Just be aware it may take awhile with the hypertension medication. It takes awhile for the vascular system to catch up to the fat loss. What appears to speed up my process was my 1 to 2 mile daily walk. I believe its the reason I was able to drop my hypertension medications along with my other med 13 days into my ReFeed.

Actually let me ask my endocrinologist his opinion on that.

Thanks so much! Good to know. I would be interested to see what he says.
