I saw the posts for the challenge here, and I feel I want to go ahead and start journaling.

It’s 10pm central now. I fasted today and see the challenge starts tomorrow. I’m going to go ahead and make it a day early for to start and try and keep this current fast going.

I plan to go as long as I can while at least sticking with the 7 day fasts plan that is in place here.

Not sure if I’m doing it right or not, but there it is.

Now I’m going to go read some more Brain over Binge. Great book so far.

Yes, it’s 99% ego head trip and honestly one percent of maybe hunger. But the hunger passes if you can slap the ego and focus on something else.

Welcome here!

Finishing up day 2. Still going strong!

Welcome! I joined this group almost 2 months ago, and it is so helpful to journal one’s progress.
I wish you all the success you can imagine for yourself.
I am presently on day 1, and wish I was already on day 6!
Oh, well, I just have to keep slapping my inner brat, that does not shut up those first few days of fasting. This really is a complete mental game…I believe I still have about 20 kg. of extra fat to release, plenty to sustain me, while fasting, LOL. I do not get on the scale as it messes with my head.
ONWARD and UPWARD, right!
Happy Fasting!

On day 3 now. I think I can keep this up this time. I believe my trick is having reliable accountability. All of my successful attempts at fasting in the past has typically involved some form of accountability being in play. I may need to shell out the big bucks to keep this up a while. Can we get a multi month discount or anything? lol.

Day 4 ongoing now. I get random waves of hunger, but I’ve been using the techniques I learned from “Brain Over Binge” to keep my mind in the right place and ignore the primal urges for wanting to eat that does now exist. I have a trick for knowing if I am actually hungry. I just ask myself would I be willing to eat a raw turnip? Something I am not particularly fond of. If I was willing to go as fat as eating that, then maybe I can say I am hungry, but until then, I’ll see how far I can go on this fast. Initially I just wanted 7 days, but I am bumping that up to a couple weeks now. Maybe a month if I feel good after a week.

I love the idea of “am I hungry enough to eat something I dislike”

Will definitely use this! Thanks for sharing

On day 5. Still going strong. It is currently around 2PM at the moment. Any small thoughts for eating I’ve been immediately shutting it down in my head. I went biking this morning and did notice a little less overall energy, but I was able to ride for about an hour. I am going to push it to 31 days as well. So I am going to push for it. Or I guess I should say I WILL DO IT.

On day 6. I think I am over that difficulty hump now. I’ve dug myself into a 42 day commitment now, so everyone will help me keep away any bs that would throw me off on that.

Wow, 42 days!!! The weather is warm, and that helps, in extended fasting, right? I am contemplating doing 30 days, instead of 21 days. I am looking forward to day 6…
Is your wife supportive of you doing such a long fast?

She is supportive thankfully. She has seen me do plenty of fasts in the past.

On day 7 now. Starting to feel some weakness, but I think that was due to my workout the day before. I’ll need to be sure to pace myself a bit more moving forward. I’ll probably up my salt intake on days with workouts or something. Today I’ll lift some weights just to keep my strength levels up.

On day 8 now. 1 week down. Day 7 turned out to be a breeze. Here is to hoping for the rest of my path being easy. The only negatives I’m feeling now are a small amount of soreness this morning.

On day 9 of 42. Still feeling good today. I’m starting to wonder if I ever want to stop at 42 if I retain the feelings I have. I have pretty much lost the urge for food and diet sodas completely for the time being. Granted I’m not giving many opportunities for any temptations to take hold. Thank you everyone in this group for helping have probably the best fasting experience I have gone through!

Day 10 of 42. Still hanging in there. A little more fatigue in the morning it seems and get dehydrated rather quickly, but I keep up the water intake and will just keep chugging along.

Day 11 of 42. Still in there just fine. Nights seem to be a bit weird now. I’ve lost my urge to drink coffee as much. The only thing I have to deal with are just periodic hunger pangs and other minor side effects, but they are all manageable.

Day 12 of at least 42. Going to say at least 42 now, because I am strongly considering just going until I feel what they call “real hunger”. I hate the early days of fasting so why keep restarting. Let’s go ahead and reach for as far as we can!

You’re doing great!!! Keep it up. Today is day one for me & I want to go at least 21 days. :crossed_fingers:t2:

WOW! So spectacular! I am looking forward to you sharing your experience of “real hunger”.

Are you doing a water only fast? Are you taking any electrolytes or salt? WOOT
