Meg’s daily journal

This isn’t my first fast or longest fast but it will be my first fast over 48 hours in a few months. I don’t do this for weight loss ( I hope it’s OK to be here still!) but because of some very high inflammation markers and autoimmune conditions that make daily life very difficult for me. I started fasting last fall and my markers have come down DRAMATICALLY and I’ve been able to ween myself off some medication.

I IF every day and I’ve done a handful of 5-7 days fasts. I’m naturally lean (but normal weight/BMI) so I prep for these by really making sure my weight is up higher than my norm before embarking on a longer fast. This can be detrimental if I keep false starting though

I am aiming to go today 5/31 to Friday 6/5 for a total of 5 days. I know this will squelch the inflammation that’s been increasing over the last month or so and help alleviate some of my pain.

I CAN DO IT!

We have a successful anti-inflammation story from the FB group:

Day 2. I know today and tomorrow are always the hardest for me. It’s always mental and not physical hunger. I will get through it! 5 days is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Taking my electrolytes, black coffee and water!

Hi Meg,

Though I am primarily working on weight loss, I am so glad you are here. I am interested to see how fasting works at normal bmi. I am making this a life-long journey.

Don’t know if you saw it but here’s a autoimmune disease success story from the FB forum if you’re interested.
