Ok I am gonna try skipping the electrolyte drink for a couple of days and see if the hunger pangs fade
March 23rd Starters! @Michelle
How does one calculate the water weight loss during a fast and what can I expect to gain back after ending my fast.
For me, its a rule of thumb approximation developed after numerous prolonged fasts and research.
It takes approximately 32 to 40 hours for your liver to deplete its glycogen (stored carbohydrate) before going after the ones stored in your muscles. You can reduce the time of glycogen depletion if you’ve been eating low carb meals the preceding 2 to 3 meals before the fast and if you exercise.
The glycogen molecule is approximately 2/3rds water. So when it is used for energy that water is released. For me, I lose approximately 9 to 10lbs the 1st 3 days. The 4th day cuts down to either 0 or 1lb loss then picks up to 2lbs/day for 5 to 8 days. So for me the 1st 3 days is water weight loss. Day 4 transition from glucose to ketosis. Then full ketosis.
Hope this answers your question.
Too late to join? I literally just signed up for this site and forum. I’m totally new here, and I have to say, it’s refreshing to belong to an actual forum! reminds me of the AOL days…lol I am 32, have done a 21 day water fast over 5 years ago, but it was a great experience. I’ll keep exploring the forum to see if there’s a different group to join a fast that is starting tomorrow, April 1. Anyway, hello to all! glad to be here
