Helpful tips for beginners wanting to water fast

Hi there my name is Kaleb, as you may have seen by the title I am relatively new to water fasting. I have tried it before but have failed to keep my fast. I was wondering if any of you have any tips on making my fast a little easier.

Thanks!

From my observations, successful rookies to prolonged fasting usually build up their fasting muscle by doing Intermittent Fasting with a low-carb diet. They ramp up to increasing stricter IF schedules going from 13:11, 16:8, 18:6, 20:4 to OMAD (One Meal a Day). The first number represents the hours of fasting between the last meal of the day and the first meal of the next day. The second number represents the hours of an “eating window”.

That’s what I did. Once past the “transition” period I’ve completed 4 ,5, 7, 21 & 40-day fasts.

Hope this helps!

@AutoRub I agree with @Compdude. Work your way up to it.

It may be easier to start with skipping breakfast and also cutting out sugar and wheat (both of which are addictive). If you live alone, get all junk out of the house. If not, leave the room when others are eating it or ask them not to do so in front of you (for at least the first few days).

To reinforce your decision, read up on fasting (The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung is excellent) and watch fasting videos. Both @Yasemin and Dr. Fung have some on Youtube.

Learn the difference between appetite and hunger.

Keep your electrolytes up to ward off weakness or cramps. You can make your own electrolyte drink without sweeteners or google the recipe for Snake Juice (same thing.)

Welcome! You’re with a crowd all working towards health and mental toughness! :muscle:
