Hello, my name is Greg and I’m very excited albeit somewhat nervous about starting this water fast later this evening. I’ll try to update my journal every day along the way. I would also like to thank Yasemin for putting together this wonderful forum.
Greg's Daily Fasting Journal
Hello, I started my fasting journey at 6pm Texas time, lol. Even though I fasted for 18hrs, when I broke it, it felt like I was trying to eat everything in site knowing that I wouldn’t be able to eat for 5+ days. My goal is 7 days, but after this one I want to take a week break before doing another one for 14 days or even longer. But first I’ll have to get through this one
Day 2, I made it without surcoming to my natural desire to eat. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly how I felt. There were times that I wanted to give in to the hunger, but I stayed the course, and rode the wave. I’m really proud of myself so far. Oh, I did feel a little irritable, but I expected that, lol. On to say 3? Yay!
Oh, I forgot to mention no keto flu
Today’s positive affirmation:
I am determined, focused, and committed to succeed. I will let nothing get in the way of that success.
The three things that I set to accomplish was, 1. Drink enough fluids, use Himalayan salt, and ACV, 2. Stay focused. 3. Not to get discouraged.
Day 3, and I’m still in the running. Felt kind of irritable today, and stressed because of a test that I had to take for the master’s in nutrition program I’m in so could have came from that, at least some of it. Also I’ve been craving carbs. My energy has been holding up though. I’m doing my supplements: sea salt, potassium, and magnesium. Well, I do feel good about not giving into those craving. Tomorrow is a new day, and I’m looking forward to it.
Feeling great this morning. I was debating about getting on a scale because it’s only been day 3. Well, I started on Sunday so I’m 60 something hours in. My starting weight was to 217.3lbs. I was needing a little motivation so, I decided to give it a try, and discovered that I’m down 4lbs since Sunday. I’m very happy with that even though I know most of it is water weight. And now it’s time to burn some fat baby
Still rocking it. I can do this! My wife asked me if I was starving myself. So I educated her a little, but she’s still skeptical. Today was a good day. I will succeed!

Still going strong folks. It’s a good thing I’m stubborn, lol. I am craving real food though, and the water, and tea is getting a little boring, but I like the simplicity.
I forgot to mention, I had some diarrhea today after drinking my second salt water cocktail. I used 1tsp of Celtic salt this morning in about a liter of water, and about 1/2tsp of Himalayan salt this evening. Actually I’ve been going a lot since this evening about 4xs. I’m not having a a problem with constipation at all that’s for sure.
Got through day 6 unscaved. I must say I did get a little hungry later in the day. Earlier had a lot energy. Also I went to see a movie with my two sons, wife, and brother. They were all enjoying popcorn, and chocolate.
Not only that, but the guy next to me was eating popcorn too. I made up my mind that I wouldn’t early on, and I didn’t. I’m proud of myself.
Tomorrow will officially be day 7 for me, and I would’ve exceeded my original goal by 2 days. I feel ok, strong, like I’m in charge, but I still have those food craving from time to time I’ll break my fast tomorrow evening around 6:30. It’s been fun though, and a big challenge. Also thanks Yasmine for the refeed tips.
Thanks for sharing ! I’ll be watching this soon
Breaking my fast now at 7 days with avocado, kimchi, and bone broth with grassfed butter, and I feel great that I exceeded my original goal of five days and withheld all the temptations that works for me
I just started another fast tonight at 7:30pm, and I’m going for 14 days. I’m strong and motivated. I got this. My goal is to make a better post fast plan.
Well, life happened, and I didn’t make it the 14 days like I intended. My son went back to Alaska, and we did a farewell thing before he left. But I did did back on the wagon the day after, and went for 60 hrs. I’ve started another one this evening, going until the 25th. This time nothing will get in my way, not even the upcoming Thanksgiving “potluck” party at work, which is on the 22nd.
I’m changing my goal weight to 200lbs. I am currently at 210lbs. Once I reach my goal weight of 200lbs, I’ll re-evaluate.
Smart. Starting with small and achievable goals build momentum and give you motivation when tackling tougher challenges in the future.
