This conversation will be about everything to do with optional supplements & electrolytes for water fasting.
Electrolytes & Supplements
Hello,
I don’t want to take any supplment. THis is not a category. You should create a category for Supplements instead.
Ive had to bail I’m a quarter of the way into a 21 day water fast and I’ve taken a suppliment to see if it helps.
Four days of being naff half a day of feeling awesome all-night feel sick, headache and throbbing like in the first few days my heart is just throbbing
Help please! Going into day 6 in 6 hours…It’s 2:25 AM. I’ve been up for almost an hour. I have excruciating leg pain, especially my upper thighs and knees. It hurts so bad:pleading_face: I stretched for 20 minutes and used a back roller and currently using a heating pad which is helping. I also took acetaminophen…is that bad? I haven’t been taking supplements but wondering where to buy and any particular brand. If you can recommend target, Walmart, cvs etc because I’d like to get them as soon as stores open up. Thanks in advance for feedback!
Himalayan Salt and potassium that’s what I took. And once the aching and brain fog subsided the fast was a breeze (fond distorted memories )
I use Vega hydrator powder when fasting. Available in the pharmacy at walmart along with the protein powders. It may seem expensive…pint size container about 25 bucks US but when you see the tiny spoon it comes with you will realize how concentrated it is. And I find 1/3 of this little scoop is strong enough. What I do is have 1/3 of a scoop twice per day, each in 10-12 ounces of water. What I also like about it is it has plant based Stevia only to sweeten so it doesnt affect your blood sugar level. Comes in berry or lemon lime flavour. I prefer the latter.
One of our members had an existing knee injury and then had excruciating pain during the fast, but it got WAY better after. She said she thinks her knees were healing from within and improved A LOT by the 14th day!
Do you have any existing injuries?
Potassium and magnesium are good for muscle/leg cramps but typically not excruciating I don’t think!!

Thank you So much for all of the responses!! I did Himalayan salt for the first time yesterday and a little squeeze of lemon in my water…maybe it was toxin build up? Not really sure.I’m still achy this morning but it’s just a dull pain. When I woke up to this pain initially in the morning I had done my back roller, the pain subsided quite a bit and then I started massaging my thigh firmly and the pain started all over again, I was almost crying it hurt so bad. Does that mean anything? I’m a hairstylist so I stand all day and I’m a bit clumsy…I just fell up my stairs the other day:woman_facepalming:t3:So maybe injury/injuries? Not quite sure, but in my research people who had imbalanced electrolytes experienced cramping or pain right? Or if it is toxin, should I do a salt flush? If so, how do you do that? I just want to continue my journey without the pain. Mentally I feel great! Thank you all again!
Oh also…it’s okay to take acetaminophen right? Maybe a silly question but🤷🏼♀️
I definitely wouldnt suggest a salt flush while fasting. Just drink drink drink and suppliment the vital electrolytes.
Over doing salt while fasting will have bowel results
Yes I haven’t had any bowel movements since starting. What’s the salt to water ratio?
Lick the tip of your finger dip it in and then suck has always been my effort.
Edit on above post it was meant to say wouldn’t suggest… highly wouldn’t suggest
Omg happy you edited loooool I was like is Cate trolling I laughed I was like omg omg Cate!!! Hahaha
I reread it and couldn’t edit fast enough! And then had to draw attention to the error! I do hope she’s seen it in time auto correct had best not ruined someone’s day 🤦
hahaha
Ohh lol good thing I didn’t try that before checking in here thank you
I bought potassium and magnesium pills so hopefully tonight won’t be so bad
I am wondering if taking supplements, potassium, magnesium, vitamins and biotin decelerate weight loss or not?
No as in regards to supplements and vitamins. Speaking from experience (40 day and two 21-day completed fasts and currently on Day 17 of another 21 day). Can’t speak on biotin though.
