Crash on Day 5 - what might have caused it?

Thanks for reading my first post!

I did my first (almost) 5 day water fast a couple of months ago, from 7pm Monday to 5 pm Saturday. The first 2 days were pretty easy, then day 3 was harder - pretty much what the internet told me to expect. Friday (day 4) started out even worse, but around 7pm I started to feel great. I had much more energy, and had frisson shivers in repeated waves through my whole body. I assumed my metabolic switch had switched and I was excited to be getting the benefits of the fast.

But then I woke up on Saturday morning feeling awful. I could still get through the day, and I wasn’t all that hungry, but my energy levels were low and went down from there. My family said I looked sick. I had planned to break the fast that night anyway, and felt fine once I had eaten.

What do people think is the most likely cause of my crash? Not enough salt maybe? I have read that autophagy can be suppressed by some viruses; did I get an infection / flare up of the wrong virus at just the wrong moment?

Hi! I had exactly the same experience.yesterday was my day 5 and I was so weak I could hardly force my self out of bed.I usually take Himalayan see salt if I feel dizzy but the weakness was still there,I red aboutbuchinger fasting and they allow a broth for dinner, that’s what I did and I feel great today.there is not much in a broth but electrolytes and minerals but it helped.I think it is the hardest day and the body needs rest.
