Coconut oil during water fasting

Hi,

I have read that taking a tea spoon full of extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil on an empty stomach and then drinking a glass of hot water in about 10 minutes will reduce belly fat quickly (which is the most difficult part to go off). Has anyone tried this?

I want to try it. I am on a 21 days water fast and today is my 9th day. Can I take the coconut oil in the mornings (as I am already on an empty stomach anyway)? Will taking coconut oil interrupt my water fast?

Thanks

From what I’ve seen the reason coconut oil is allegedly good for weight loss is that it has a high satiety factor meaning it makes people feel full and therefore makes them eat less. Also, it appears all the studies on this substance are based on small data sets which means more investigation needs to be done to credibly establish any benefits, IMHO. @Anna

Hi!
I would agree with @Compdude that there’s not much research on it! I couldn’t find any reliable studies!
It’s also misleading that media still uses the myth of the body’s ability to burn fat from specific areas, such as belly fat, which is not true. The body will use the fuel that is most easily accessible (in this case the oil you eat) firstly. A little bit of fat from an armpit might be next, who knows!

I think you’ll have way better results by not adding any calories at all! Sadly we can’t control the places your body takes the fat from, but it’s more likely that everything will shrink by time when not eating!

If you still want to try it, maybe you can do it while refeeding again and see if you feel more satiated because of the fat content when eating! :cherry_blossom:
