Can you lift heavy weights while fasting?

Hello all,

I have a question. I plan to do my first ever 3 day water fast starting tonight at 12 AM. I plan to break it and refeed in three days at 12 AM.

I’m wondering if I can lift heavy weights for exercise while fasting. My exercise routine consists of heavy weight lifting and high intensity interval sprinting. I was planning on continuing but maybe going a little lighter. I want to avoid losing all the progress I’ve made in terms of strength.

Can anyone give me an answer to this question?

On Day 1 of your 3 days, if you exercise early that morning, you should be okay. Make sure you drink lots of water and you stay hydrated. You should be fine. the other two days, take it easy and resume heavy on your refeed days. Listen to your body. It will let you know how far you should go.
