Bronxtanya's Daily Fasting Journal

Why do I fast?

  • to feel good consistently
  • to lose weight
  • to get rid of my sugar addiction
  • to reset my relationship with food
  • to DE-link my emotions from eating
  • to train my willpower
  • to gain mental clarity
  • to show myself that I can live without binge eating
  • to prevent weight and food issues when I get older
  • to live a long life
  • to feel confident in my body
  • to be able to buy new clothes
  • to improve my productivity
  • to get rid of cravings

Short and long term goals
short-term goal:
lose 50 lbs

long-term goal:
keep the weight off
gain control of cravings
live a healthy OMAD lifestyle

Struggles
I expect to have cravings. That’s the hardest part. I have a long list of things to do when that happens (drink coffee, have salt, distract myself, go for a walk, listen to music, dance, yoga, exercise…) yet it is so hard to rationally think about any of that when I’m in such a “cravings episode”. That will be my biggest obstacle. I can do it! I will be very proud of myself when I successfully finished my fast.

Game Plan
14 Day Fast
long-term: OMAD and alternate day fasts

Affirmations

  • I act in alignment with my goals no matter what I’m thinking.
  • I don’t want that food right now. These cravings will pass.
  • I do what I say I am going to do.
  • I choose long-term happiness over short-term pleasure

Good job :muscle: keep going.
I have found that fasting helped my sweet cravings, usually, I would eat something sweet but limit the about at the end of my meals, but now after 16 days fast I no longer want to eat anything sweet. Feels like a reset and I don’t want to put bad stuff back in my body🙂 I’m on day 2 reefeed today.

I think I will start doing some walking and yoga. I will take it slow and steady. I’m so happy I have 3 weeks to go. I’ve decided to extend my fast till July 1st!

Day 9: 6/12/2020
Weight 175.4 (-1)

I feel good, had a dream about eating at a buffet with cheat food after my fast. All I could think about is eating all the food and then going back to fasting again.
I want to stop this behavior of fasting then cheating and then fasting again.
I will not use fasting as an easy “fix-it” tool and then return to my bad eating habits.
I will learn to eat well, portion control, and eat only when I’m hungry.
I will continue to fast and either eat OMAD/ ADF
I never would have thought in a million years I would be able to go this long without eating food and not die. This is a life changing experience. Keep going you can do it. The best thing about this is the energy, clarity and weight loss. I do not feel hungry and III my stomach grumbles I take a swig of water. I also enjoy cooking for my family the smell is a treat and the enjoyment that they get warms my heart.

Think about “controlled cheating”. The problem is NOT that we eat food that are bad for us. The problem is using it as an excuse to binge.

Before launching into my my most recently completed 21-day fast I had half a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. Instead of feeling guilty, I celebrated the fact that I felt full after half a pint. I had NEVER before been able to stop from consuming the whole pint before.

True, but my problem was both eating food that was bad for me as well as binge eating or eating depending on my mood of the day.

6/13/2020: Day 10

Weight 175.4 no change in weight

Not seeing the scale go down made me feel down but I’m still not giving up. I have a goal and I’m sticking with it. I will continue to drink my water with salt and take it easy. I feel better now because I lost 12.4 lbs in 10 days which is an awesome accomplishment. I get this!

You will have temporary weight loss plateaus. Its part of the process. I have had them on every prolonged fast.

6/13/2020 update to Day 10: I figured out what today’s weight stall was due to: my menstrual cycle came on, I’m spotting and cramping so I may have some weight gain over the next few days which is to be expected. Hand in there, we got this!

I feel dizzy and I walk very slow. I have a breakouts on my face which could be due to a mixture of my menstrual cycle as well as my body detoxing. I walk very slow otherwise I feel woozy. My right ear is clogged so I tend to talk louder my daughter reminds me, lol I don’t feel hungry and I look great.
