10 day fast journal

Day 0
I’m starting my fast tomorrow but today I ate nothing but an apple just to taste the fast. I feel good but quite week and lightheaded. Huge headache, any recommendations? Can I take any painkillers?
Also, I saw mixed experiences with fasting and drinking tea/coffee. Will they break the fast?

Can’t wait to be on day 4 but taking it slow and enjoying the process. Just wish I wouldn’t get such headaches.

  1. Headache can be caused by one or two causes:
    A) Do you have a refined carbohydrate addiction?
    B) Is a sign of a temporarily slowing metabolism which is what happens when transitioning to ketosis. But you just started so it can’t be that as it starts around 12 hours after your last meal.

  2. Yes, you can take painkillers as long as no carbs and no calories.

  3. Black coffee & herbal teas don’t break a fast. I take my coffee with organic stevia which also works.

Just an update:
Had a huge laugh attack which was great. I feel like I’m “high” sort of a meditative state - I do transcendental meditation and it just feels like when you transcend which is very pretty. My partner noticed that I had a strong breath- even after brushing my teeth - which I read about but I though it would happen later on in the fast, so that’s kind of odd?

Yes, Keto breath is a result of acetone(a keytone) being exhaled as a result of ketosis. Usually doesn’t happen until after Day 5 or later.

Day 3 today!! Feel so so good. Day 2 was hard though. I tried to keep myself busy but I could realise how ADDICTED I was to carbs hhah. I didn’t feel hungry but weak and dizzy. Boredom made me snack loads on quarantine before I started the fast and this was the consequence I guess. But I feel super good today, made a list of things I gotta do today and feeling excited about it. God I missed fasting!! :heart::heart::heart::heart:

Day 4
Haven’t been able to sleep - I’ll buy some melatonin today. But overall feel good an energetic. Mind sharp and creative, been working on many things and just solving things I’ve been procrastinating. Meditations seem deeper. I feel very on the moment :slight_smile:
