October 30th weight: 169.8 lbs

Last few days were not as difficult as expected! Drank plenty of water, had electrolytes and managed not to succumb to cravings. Really glad to be fasting during Halloween as I typically gorge on candy all week.

October 31st weight: 169.0

It’s nice waking up and seeing the scale numbers going down!

Still going strong

Hey SleepyZebra,

Glad you are holding strong and doing well! Have you done many fasts before? It sounds like you are breezing right through it. Right this moment I feel happy I am fasting on Halloween, but I have definitely had ups/downs about it. I love sugar.

This is my first extended water fast! However, I’m Muslim and observe Ramadan so I’ve been dry fasting from sun up to sun down for one month a year since I was 10-11 years old - that’s about 2 decades of fasting experience so maybe that is why I am not struggling as much as I thought I would. I love sugar as well and working in an office environment surrounded by candy and treats is torture!! I have to keep reminding myself I’m not “missing out” and to focus on the bigger picture

That makes sense… Yes, you have definitely had a few decades of fasting experience! I hate being surrounded by legalized drugs (ie candy) all the time also. it’s brutal.

November 1 weight: 167.6 lbs

Fatigue has popped up but keeping myself hydrated has helped a lot. It’s motivating to see the scale numbers drop every morning

Had a lot of trouble with sleep last night. Can’t believe I’ve made it past the 100 hour mark! I’ll be breaking my fast in a little over 24 hours - can’t wait!

The reasons people need less sleep while doing Prolonged Fasting:

  1. Your metabolic rate (daily energy burn) is composed of 3 parts. Smallest is energy devoted to food consumption and storage of excess calories into fat estimated at 10%. This energy is now freed up.
  2. The brain runs better on ketones (produced during ketosis - fat burning process) than glucose (sugar from food).

Hope this helps!

Expected a slight bump from the refeed so not too fussed. Thinking about doing a fast until Saturday November 16th instead of a week long fast. Goals for this next round of fasting:

-Be consistent with fluid intake (3L a day)
-End fast with a weight under 155lbs
-Get in some light exercise (step goal of 8K+ a day) + incorporate stretching

No weight updates today unfortunately. Ended up having a fever + migraine later in the day yesterday and decided to break my fast after 20 hours. Will be taking today to refeed & recover as well. Hope to resume fasting before the end of the week

Back to fasting today! Forgot to do a morning weigh-in. Still aiming to break my fast for Nov 16th. I’m struggling so far but know it will get easier

November 7 weight: 167

Making a switch to OMAD this week after recognizing water fasting past 7 days was negatively affecting my mood. I love to exercise and stepping back from that to water fast took a toll on me. Looking forward to seeing progress albeit much slower progress
