Water fast round 2

Day 1/14

It’s been a while since my last fast in January. I’ve been trying to get another fasting cycle in and now seems the best time since we are all being encouraged to work from home until the end of March at least.

It’s been a busy few months at work and whilst I am incredibly anxious about the schools, getting cabin fever, the unknown, working from home with the boys being around all day, and my husband being out of work, this fast offers me some control in my life: control over recalibrating my moods, balancing my hormones and getting back into shape.

This first day has been good. I didn’t feel hungry physically or mentally and was able to workout, get to the office to prepare for the shut down, and start preparing to homeschool the boys.

How’s your fast going?

Day 2
Today has been really tough as the country shuts down to delay the spread of Coronavirus. Gyms have been forced to close, schools closed, no social interaction or play dates recommended for the children. Mentally, having a release through exercise allows me to cope with being a working mum. The idea of homeschooling, working from home, refereeing constant battles between two boys, the inevitable impending battles over school work, a job seeking husband out of work, now with cancelled interviews…I am not coping with this at all. I feel physically sick.

You have my sympathies. I’m hearing the same concerns from my married friends with kids. All I can offer is what I did when I was a software engineer who took over a $500k project that was 2 weeks behind deadline.

I got my team together in a conference room and listed all the tasks that needed to get done into categories. Under each category we then prioritized the tasks. Then we would meet daily, erase tasks that got done and re-prioritize the remaining tasks. That way everyone was on the same page and knew what everyone else was doing. It kept the team focused.

Bottom-line we brought the project in on time and on budget.

Maybe you could do the same with your family. That way you won’t feel you have to bear the entire burden alone. I know when my mom quit being a full-time housewife to re-entering the work force I got recruited to do housework. It made me happy because I felt I was helping out my parents.

Just a suggestion.

The quarantine has sidetracked me from these updates, I’ve been mumma, employee and teacher each day, and am wiped out by the time I wrap up work for the day. @Compdude thank you for the suggestion of a schedule, I was able to print off one a full time homeschooler had uploaded online, and involved the boys in writing them up for each day of the week.
On fasting news…
I’ve been feeling incredibly nauseous these last few days, especially in the mornings. ACV helps. Oddly still hungry on occasion. Otherwise starting to feel better. I’ve learned that each day of the fast is unique and there are no guarantees as to how I will feel physically.
