Van’s Fasting Journey

I just came off of 12 days of fasting. I was very discouraged as I plateaued after the 7th day. I went from 172 to 160 lbs and got stuck at 160 lbs.
After those 12 days, I ate like crazy and gained about 6 lbs back.
My goal is to fast for 72 hours and then eat for one day. And then repeat cycle of fasting for 72 hours and eating for one day.
I think the issue with my extended fasting was the metabolic adaptation. I hope this way of eating can help with my weight loss and prevent my weight from plateauing.

I just started my 72 hours today at 12pm. This fast will end on Sunday at 12pm.

Start Weight: 182 lbs
Current Weight: 166.6 lbs
Goal Weight: 110 lbs

Plateauing is a normal part of the process. During my 40-day I had 3 1-day plateaus and have had 1-day plateaus during my previous 2 21-day fasts. Just trust the process.

Don’t recommend thee 3-day 1 day off. It takes 3 days to transition to ketosis. Why pay the price without enjoying the reward? I recommend a minimum 5-day with 7-days the preferred choice based on my experience.

My plateau lasted a week… it was so discouraging.

I will see how I feel after 3 days. Maybe eat every 7 days.

Wow that does sound discouraging but getting to 160 is a big difference. Does the fast for 72 hours then eat method work? Have you tried this in the past? I see that you want to get down to 110? That is really tiny. You started at 182 so I think you are doing pretty good. Let me know how the on/off works. I hope I don’t get stuck at a certain weight for more than a couple of days I can see why you are frustrated. Take it one day at a time. V

Never tried this way of eating before. Doesn’t hurt to try. I will see how I feel after 72 hrs. So far… not doing so well. Had to start again today at 6pm. Big big sigh…

I saw someone do this on the FB group and he lost about 20 lbs in 14 days.

My goal is to go down to 110 lbs as I am only 5’1. My goal once I reach 110 lbs is to start to slowly gain weight to 130 lbs with reverse dieting and weight lifting.

Just weighed myself this morning: gained 9.2 lbs from all the eating this week :sleepy:

Did not bother checking ketones in urine. I will wait tomorrow morning.

I feel bloated and constipated. I am hoping it’s just all water weight. Big sigh…

I feel like a broken record but I ate yesterday. This time, I ate no carbs. Just 3 strips of bacon, 3 servings of egg whites and some cheese.

Restarted again last night around 7pm.

My goal is to complete 24 hours today!!!

I keep failing at the 20 hr mark. I had some meat last night, no carbs. Had to restart again at 7pm last night.

I am so disappointed in myself. But I need to start again until I complete that goal.

I am down 14 hours right now, 10 more hours to go until I make it to 24 hours.

Will check in here if I feel tempted at 20 hr mark!!!

Had a rough night. Couldn’t sleep till 4am. I suffer from major insomnia when I fast.

New symptom has developed: Itchy feet. Benadryl did not help with the itchiness. Big sigh…

Very happy with progress!!!

Will end my fast today at 9am, making it a total of 86 hours of fasting.

Period started today and usually don’t like to fast while on period. Will keep it low carb today, and will then cycle in carbs and sugar tomorrow (my refeed/cheat day).

Will most likely start another fast starting this coming Sunday or next Monday.

Start of another fasting week.

Goal is to do low carb for today and tomorrow. And start my 72 hour fast tomorrow at 7pm.

Gained about 8 lbs since June 5th. I am hoping it’s mostly water weight.
