Uche's January Fasting Journal

Happy New Year everyone! Today is Day 3 of my water fast, and the first time I’m getting to write a journal yay!!! I’m writing today because I’m struggling and would really appreciate any tips to help. I would have thought by day 3 it will be getting easier but that hasn’t been the case for me, days 1 & 2 were easier than today.

This year I’m fasting for health, I want to cleanse off sugars as much as possible so I’m embarking on this fast drinking only water and a regular cup of black coffee and plain unsweetened tea as required.

So my target for this fast is basically to fast for the month of January taking it in steps of 7days. I read that setting smaller targets is easier than embarking on a great 31day fast especially when you’re a newbie. If I need a break at the end of 7days I plan to do bone broth for a day or 2 and restart my fast. I have fasted from food in the past for days but I always tend to cheat with a zero calorie drink as I love sweet drinks.

So that’s my story and i daresay writing has made me feel a lot better already! I’m really grateful for this forum and I will keep up here regularly.

Hi there, I can contest to smaller targets helping you along the route for a long fast.
I completed a 31 day last January.
Like you I break it down 3-5-7-10-14-22-30+
It means I’m listening to my body and not pushing for something that seems a LONG WAY AWAY; as you get abit deeper into the fast, like week two/three another week doesn’t seem a long time at all, if your feeling good and your body is happy it’s quite safe to fast.
You may find after week one-10 days that coffee causes heartburn or stomach upset… At some point your body will only accept water. (It knows what’s best)

Thanks a lot for the tips and congrats on your 31day fast! Didn’t realize coffee would be an issue at any point, I’ll watch out for that. I added a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to my tea yesterday and it helped with my cravings so I may switch to tea.

Today is my Day 4 and I feel surprisingly full of energy and not hungry at all yay!!! I’ve had my regular cup of coffee and water. Luckily I’m working virtually so I’m busy too. I even managed to put in a little workout in the morning, just ab exercises at home but it really made me feel good. Staying positive and looking forward to more good days.:slight_smile:
