Totally forgot to weigh myself on my way out of the door, but will do so after work. Today is day 9. I was very close to having a crutch meal last night as I have this perpetual dry mouth thing going on, and no matter how much water I drink, it isn’t satiated. I started dreaming about soups and thought that the sodium may help, and what’s a couple hundred calories? This was all around 11pm while over at a friend’s house. Instead, I packed up my things and went home and straight to bed. I didn’t want the regret, and I figured I could sleep off my mental hunger.

This week I will work on relying less on coffees and teas, and moving towards more of a water fast.

Manifestations

  • Abhorring the taste of water
  • Autopilot
  • Freezing cold, have a little desk heater on

Congrats on getting back to your university weight! It sounds like you and I have similar body stats, and since you’re 4 days ahead of me, I’m eager to see if we’ll progress in close fashion.

Using treats as landmarks is a really good tactic to break up the duration into chunks. I’ve used this strategy in the past, and there’s very little remorse because I would’ve spent the money on food anyways.

If you feel like you need a crutch to persevere, you might need a lick of salt. Half a bouillon cube in hot water will give you the same satisfaction as a cup of vegetable soup without sacrificing the calories. But if you’d rather abstain, I believe you can do it!

Try treating yourself to something like a pelligrino water (no flavor). Water fast approved. The bubbles and minerals help break up the plain water drinking.

Today is day 10!!! Once again in awe that I made it this far. I have a planned refeed in the evening, low carb high fat (totalling 943 calories), then hopping right back on the train to start my day 1 again at 6pm. I hope I don’t regret the decision as I did intend to extend past day 10 to avoid reliving the symptoms, but I plan to suck it up.

After the refeed, I’m going for a late run by the water. Loving the autumnal weather we seem to be getting, everything feels fresh and crisp and new again.

I’ll be stepping away from the scale for a couple days until our Round 3 kick off on Thursday.

  • Dizziness
  • Coldness
  • Fatigue

Wrapping up Day 1, starting Day 2 this evening.

Pretty chill Day 1, not much to report. Got up at 4:30am and went for a beautiful hike up the hills for a gorgeous view. I’m on the waitlist for an after work spin class, failing that, I plan to get out for a run by the water, and catch up on some reading.

Wrapping up Day 2, starting Day 3 this evening.

Today is our Round 3 kick-off. Not much to report, made it to spin class last night after all and breezed through it. I’d love to be able to continue working out throughout my fast as I can’t stand being indoors/idle.

None! Feels like a regular day.

Wrapping up Day 3, starting Day 4 this evening.

I can’t believe how much easier the first few days have been this time around. Just feels like coasting, checking in at the calls, writing a post here, and then the day’s practically over. Tonight I plan to mellow out and turn in early as I’d like to get up before sunrise for a hike.

Just started Day 6 this evening!

Got caught up this weekend hiking and shopping, and haven’t been posting! But it’s Sunday evening, it’s storming heavily, and I’m kicking back with some Bubly. Excited for the new week.

Are you hungry or is it just your head playing games with you?

I’m sure it’s just my head and being completely sick of drinking water and coffee. I’ll go for a walk and see if that helps :slight_smile:

Update: I broke my fast and it feels awful. If anyone is reading this and contemplating breaking theirs, but you’re looking for a sign, don’t do it! I’m on this side of a meal and I’m telling you it’s not worth it!

Restarting immediately though :slight_smile: I’ll carry on for the remainder of the month and re-evaluate come Sept 1.

Ii definitely “feel” better in fasting mode… although I get weak, I don’t feel bloated and weighed down and feel pretty clear headed (even though I struggle w/cravings at times).

You didn’t “give up”… so it’s all good. :slight_smile:
