Hi I’m Shawna. I’m new to extended fasts. Yesterday at 6pm, I started my first 7-day extended fast. I’ve done 48s and 72s never anything longer. I have been on a fat loss journey since August 2018; when I started I weighed 225. I’m now at 148. My goal is to get down to 115 lbs or so and then build muscle to rest at around 120-125lbs. I’m 5’4" so this is a good weight for me. I’ve been yo-yo fasting and generally mess up my refeeds for the last 6 months and I’m ready to get this done so I can shift to maintenance. So far so good on the first fasting day…
Shawna's Daily Journal
Welcome!!! You have come a long way!!! That is amazing progress that you have made!!! Good luck on your fasting journey.
Incredible!!! Now you can log how you feel here every day, so you have a nice “paper trail” and accountability journal!
So for example, day 2-3-4 click “reply” to yourself anytime, and keep your emotions/feeling/symptoms and all info in this journal!!!

Hi, Shawna,
Welcome. I am new here, and am on my second 21 day water fast. Are you going to do 7 day fasts, with a refeed day inbetween? You are not too far from your goal…it should not take too long. I plan on dropping down to 123 lbs., to get some wiggle room, because after I am done with these extended fasts, I want the weight after refeed not to go beyond 128 lbs. I wish you happy fasting!
Hi! This will be my first 7 day fast. I’m not sure how this will work yet. My game plan with Yasemin is to extend the fast up to 21 days depending on how I’m feeling with optional small refeeds in between. This is a major step for me…but necessary I think to reach my goal (with wiggle room) – this is the last option I have … I’ve tried everything else. Happy fasting to you as well …wow round 2 of a 21 day fast. Impressive!
Thank you, but desperation makes the impossible actually doable…I do not want my right knee to get operated on, and therefore I have got to get this excess weight off my body, ASAP. When I make up my mind, it is like a steel-trap. And I was scared to bits, to think my dear, right knee was going to get operated on. So, that is what is behind the determination, on my part, LOL. And most folks can not even go 12 hours without food. Seven days is rather impressive!! During the dark days of the lock-down, I could not even go longer than 24 hours of fasting. It was when I fell down the stairs and injured my right knee, that gave me the needed strength of mind to carry this through. It is good to focus on short and long term goals…So, if you decide on 21 days, I will be here, fasting along with you, LOL.
At 6pm today I will complete day 3. This is a big deal for me, because generally at hour 71 I’m starting to cook so I could be eating at like 6:01 (exactly 72 hours completed). This is new ground for me. Overall I’m feeling good, I have a bit of a headache, nothing too bad – just a bit annoying. I’m thankful that I found Yasemin and I’m excited to see how far I can go…
I have officially completed day 4 (96 hours). All day I felt pretty good, until about a half ago, when tiredness hit me. Other than that I’m good. My family is having McDonald’s, but I don’t eat it anyway so it won’t bother me. Pressing on…
WELL DONE!!!
I am right behind you, as I am starting day 4. My son came to visit me,and I made him a pizza, and my nose just LOVED how it smelled. Because my mind IS made up, it never crossed my mind that I wished I could eat it, I just loved smelling the aroma of yummy food. I am pressing on, too. I wish you a wonderful, happy 5th day of fasting!! And again, congrats on getting past day4! That is so not easy. I know…
So I had to reevaluate my plan today. I completed day 5 of 7 (planned), but decided to break my fast because I was having lower back (i.e. kidney pain). I labored over the decision all day as the pain became worse. Ultimately, I believe I made the right choice because kidney disease runs rampant in my family and I was born with only one kidney. I’ve never had a problem with the shorter fasts, so I’ve decided to continue with a rolling 72 hour fasting schedule through the end of the month. The part that will take all my effort is the refeed days – I really need to stick to my plan. I’m happy to report that my refeed today was perfect! Now I will fast until Sunday.
Today I restarted my fast – I’ll fast for at least 3 days. I noticed because I had a clean refeed yesterday (zero carb/carnivore), I noticed that I felt great all day. My day 1 this go round was my best ever. Any way now into day 2 (shift occurred @ 6pm)…
Day 2. Doing okay today a bit tired, but I worked 14 hours yesterday so that’s probably why. I’m just resting and am not hungry at all. Pressing on! Happy fasting
I will give you a hint, if your kidney is unhappy…thump on it, not violently, but firmly, with a fist. If your kidney is unhappy, IT will tell you. Low back pain is not always a sign of kidney problems. I hope that helps you in future fasts. I wish you all the best.
