Update July 2022.
Much travelling, the US, UK, Norway and Madrid (and all of those other countries you stop by–their airports–when you buy cheap tickets on Kiwi.com).
I mostly maintained until I ate off of my lectin-free/vegan raw whole foods, A blood type diet.
I just did an 88-hour water/green tea fast. It went well.
After the family emergency, while travelling for that and school, though mostly eating a vegan keto lectin-free diet, I caved and ate off my diet (bikkies and tea in a hotel in Norway, and then ate vegan toast with coconut oil and immediately saw the infection and inflammation uptick from the WGA in the wheat from bikkies and toast: https://gundrymd.com/dr-gundry-diet-food-list/).
The GOOD news is that my body loves fasting and responds well. I had started a 30-day supervised water fast but had green smoothie + powdered asparagus/hot water soup + vegan toast/coconut oil at 88 hours due to neuropathy and pounding heart that wouldn’t slow down (truth be told, it didn’t slow down until I ate the bread). Though it slowed my heart rate and eliminated the neuropathy, I have to have some kind of whole foods bread replacement that is lectin-free and raw/sprouted/dehydrated or else eat something else entirely. However, after that meal, went right back on my fast and nearly 21 hours in. My fast supervisor isn’t a fan of electrolytes, yet I’m doing what I need to do to keep my body feeling well (as I’m working from home and fasting and travelling internationally this weekend and again two weeks later). After the initial May FastForward Group (telegram mostly) with Yasemine, I regained about 8 pounds or 3.6 kg. With the water fasting this week, I’ve dropped about 5 pounds or 2.26 kg. So, in a couple of days, I should be back at my 1 June weight. Then I’ll be working on those last 19lbs or 8.62 kg.
It has been interesting to see that I can eat a high carb (Dr Morse) diet with blended lemons/grapes, or green smoothies (1/2 to 1 avocado, sprinkle stevia, 1 bunch fresh mint, 1/2 to 1 zucchini, water, 1 lemon lemon or lime, blended in the MagicBullet) and macadamia nuts, fresh raw avocado, or whatever I want, as long as it is a whole unprocessed food and lectin-free (and right for my blood type, there are fresh whole foods that I avoid), and have no negative consequences. Processed foods always bring weight gain, inflammation, infection, and pain, and brain fog. Ugh. So, I’m super excited to be almost at my June weight (despite the shiz storm of family medical emergencies, excessive travel, and the need to finish my research/writing for school).
Also, as an aside, I learnt that fasting (water/tea only) while flying makes air travel virtually painless.
Happy fasting. The support of a supervised fast is the way to go (even if you have to sell some stuff to get that support).
Track your numbers (I’m amazed at how much water I drink daily, now that I’m tracking), and get back on that horse if you fall off.
Decades later, I am a long way from the young woman in her 20s with a binge eating disorder who ate virtually little or no fresh food (all white or brown, rice, bagels, flour-based products, sauces, noodles, bread, cheese, and obscene quantities of diet soda etc.) and was headed toward terrible illness.
It is all about progress, not perfection, and getting back on when you fall off!
Happy fasting, people!
