Samantha’s daily journal 2020

I’m starting a fast and I’m going to go as long as I can. I always have trouble getting past the 5th day. But this time if I fall off the wagon I’m gonna just get right back on. I find drinking water hard as I’ve never liked the taste so chances are this is not going to be a pure water fast. I’ll probably add some bone broth if I find I’m getting dehydrated. Day one starts in the morning when I wake up.

How about sparkling/carbonated water as an alternative? I understand the bone broth to offset the taste of water. Unfortunately, bone broth will cause your insulin levels to rise and may prevent you from getting into ketosis.

If you have to have the bone broth, I suggest the following:

  1. Limit the bone broth to a 4-hour window. This will maximize the time you can be in ketosis on a daily basis. It takes approximately 12 hours after the last morsel of food has left your stomach for insulin levels to go down. By going to a 20:4 Daily fasting schedule that gives your body 8 hours to be in ketosis.

  2. Try to start that 4 hour window as early in your day as possible. Our bodies are the most insulin sensitive when we get up as it gears up the body for the rigors of the day. This can reduce the time insulin levels are interfering in the start of ketosis.

Just a suggestion.

Look forward to reading about your journey.

Good luck @SamanthaArdel ! :four_leaf_clover:

Maybe you can find a brand of mineral water that you like?
I would say that water is the most healthy liquid you can drink in order to lose weight.

Keep us posted on your progress
