Paul's First Fast

Intro
Hello. My name is Paul. Im nearly 40. I just retired after 20 years in the US military and the VA has rated me at 100% permanently disabled due to service related conditions. My only concern is electrolyte intake and that issue is discussed in my gameplan.

Why
During my first 39 years of life I lived out of control. I habitually abused prescrption drugs and alcohol. That took a toll on my mind and body and I hope the benefits of fasting increase my wellness. I also fast for spiritual reasons. I discovered the meaning of my life through Christ.

Long Term and Short Term Goals:
-achieve a higher level of physical health.
-prepare for a 40 day fast
-gain knowledge and become closer to my creator

What are some struggles you face or you have faced in the past
I had no moral center so I would get drunk and abuse prescription drugs daily. My health got so bad I was hospitalized 8 days for suicide. I have intermittent fasted(only eating from 5PM to 10PM) before had good results but I never stopped eating completely.

** What is your game plan?**
Drink only water for 5 days. I have a water treatment system with reverse osmosis so it filters everything. I plan on eating or drinking NOTHING else. I heard arguments about sodium and I have some Pink Himalayan Salt if I start to feel poor. I haven’t done much research to be honest. Once I saw how long it takes to die from not eating I just figured I would start a 5 day fast today and hope for the best.

How do I feel right now?
CURIOUS

How will I feel once I achieve my goal?
Glorious.

Daily Affirmation
Nothing to it, but to do it. YEA BUDDY!!!

I’ll start with my first full day log tomorrow. Since I don’t normally until around 5PM everything is business as usual so far.

Welcome to the forum!

I’ll recommend Dr Fung binging on youtube. Very informative and I personally find him entertaining to listen to.

Day 1 went by without any issue. I lost 3 lbs the first day. I normally intermittent fast until 430pm and around 5PM my stomach rumbled a bit and I had a minor hunger pain. I prayed for maybe 10 seconds and it passed and I felt good all night. Day #2 is a lil rougher but thats for tomorrow.
