New year, better me

My name is Brandon and I have been doing Keto with omad mostly 2017-2018 and lost 86 lbs then met my boyfriend and fell wayyy off. Now that I’ve hit peak depression about the clothes shrinking on me and just mentally foggy I decided to hop back on. I have been watching the daily check in and they have motivated me to switch from omad to a water fast. While I planned a 14 day for my first, I’d love to see what happens at the end of a 21. Day by day.

Stats :
6’
237 lbs 1/15/2020

Started fast 1/15/2020

About 47 hours into the fast as posting.

Edit: change of plans, forgot about Chinese New Year and my boyfriend is Chinese and his whole family is making a large meal. I must attend and I refuse to say no to some hot pot! So duration of my fast is now 8 days.

Welcome to our fasting community.

I’m the resident “graybeard” both figuratively and literally, as I hold the current record for longest water fast at 40 days and I’m older than dirt!

With your extensive Keto/OMAD experience you should have a good chance of success. Did you do any Keto/OMAD before starting your water fast?

If you have any questions or just need to :scream: for help feel free.

welcome Brandon!

I did a week of omad in preparation for this fast. Right now kind of struggling because my hormones are raging for something delicious haha.

Thanks Bri!

Ok, extrapolating from the time stamp on your latest post you’ve just completed 2 days.

Right now your body is exhausting its glycogen stores (stored carbohydrates) in your liver and then your muscles. Once your body exhausts those it goes into full ketosis. The keytones will start suppressing the production of the “hunger” hormone, Ghrelin. You’ll notice your hunger pangs will start to fade. However, if you ate at regular times it will spike during those times as your body’s become habituated but each daily cycle the spikes get lower and lower.

Since you spent a week in OMAD you probably just have to get through today. It could be even less if you do low-intensity exercise to speed glycogen exhaustion.

Hang in there!

Here I am, posting in: 75.5 hours in! I had a slight little break today when my boyfriend ordered some of my favorite foods from our favorite restaurant. I wasn’t even hungry, just frustrated I could have a meal with him. I grabbed my mug, some hot water and sprinkle of salt. Cheers! I really did feel good today for the most part, the second half of the day has seem to drag but I just focused on work. I weighed in this morning down 9.6 lbs. Mostly water weight but I can visually see my face becoming thinner and I tried on a pair of pants that I was fearful wouldn’t fit and here I have worn them all day.
