So on June 27th I started my fasting with water only at 304.2lbs. It was an enlightening experience and it really enabled me to see how much food had been ruling my life. On day four I started getting dizzy walking to the restroom and by day 5 I was lightheaded and experienced a lot of shortness of breath. I made sure I was drinking 2+ liters of water with added electrolytes daily, however by day 7 I knew I needed to go shopping for my kids and at the state I was in would not make it through Sam’s with 4 children. So on day 8 after losing 15.1lbs going from 304.2 to 289.1 I broke my fast with some beef broth. I waited a couple of hours and was still extremely dizzy so I ate some green beans and within an hour I felt better. On day 9 (2 days post fast) I weighed 288.2lbs and had a keto salad with fruit and an unsweetened ice tea, then went on my Sams adventure. Today which is day 10 (3 days post fast) I weighed in at 287.3. I’m still drinking 2L of water and started back on my vitamins.
I’ve been able to turn down food, make better choices, and instill in myself that yes a piece of pizza is great but that means all this was for nothing and remind myself that my bad food choices are just allowing me to dig my own grave.
I’ve read that the the water part of the fasting weight should be gained back but as of now I keep losing. Maybe it’s because I have so much weight to lose my body is doing something different. Idk. I have been doing a 20:4 IF schedule eating only between 11:30am and 2:30pm. It’s hours after I wake up and about 9 hours before I go to bed.
So the end result is
7 day fast lost 15.1lbs
3 day post fast lost 1.8
10 days 16.9lbs lost
I started my fast on the 27th and may try another 7 day fast starting July 27th. As for now I see food as food and am able to control myself which is what I needed. A lot of people told me to start easy and work my way into an extended fast but I really needed to take food out of the equation and get a handle on controlling myself before any diet plan would ever be feasible. In the end I lost weight but gained so much more.
