Ohhh I used to have a portable sauna. Good size one. Room for 4 I put together & used in a spare bedroom. Loved it!

Thanks so much that was really helpful! I think I will start adding electrolytes to my water from now on.

Yeah i’m going to add electrolytes to my water once per day when I fast. I don’t think its needed in every glass. Hell, lots of pple do a water fast & never add a thing for days without issue!

Yes for sure! I just sweat a lot in the sauna so I don’t want for that to negatively affect my fast. But I love how I feel after a 60 min sauna session!

What electrolytes do you guys use? I’ve got some hydrolyte in the cupboard. I drink that when I have a headache.

I just used Himalayan salt, magnesium and potassium in my previous fasts. For my upcoming 21-day, I will swap out the potassium for potassium citrate to help address the issue of dealing with increased preinflammatory cytokines that will be released from visceral fat that I will be burning off due to being close to my goal body fat percentage.

FYI: With each prolonged fast, I started to using less and less supplements. I believe its because of the increased metabolic flexibility my body was attaining and becoming more efficient running on ketones.

Vega hydrator. 1 tiny spoon per day and all thats needed.

Oh that’s good to know. For previous fasts I never used any supplements. I was younger then , now I’m mid 30’s I feel like it won’t be as easy. I’ve done a million 1 and 2 day fasts, but this is my first 28 day one. I remember on my 11 day fast breaking it and I got so depressed because I had planned longer. Day 3 is def the hardest for me.

I might try the salt, I can’t take tablets. Ever since I was a kid I could never swallow them. If I ever need antibiotics I swallow with a mouthful of food so when fasting can only drink.

I will also be adding pink salt, magnesium and potassium to my water. After doing some research that seems to be what most advise to do. Next question is how much water are you drinking? I rarely feel the need to drink more than 1-1.5 liters a day but when I get further into it I’m wondering if I will need to drink more.

Drink what you feel you need…don’t force it. Also I often see it recommended to sip, not guzzle your water during a fast. Just easier on your digestive system.

Day 3! Almost at hour 54. I could not for the life of me fall asleep last night. Last time I looked at the clock it was 4am :sob: but once I do fall asleep I sleep well I don’t know what’s up with that. Got a solid 6 hours so I’m okay with that. Very gloomy outside so not real motivated to go for a walk as it’s going to rain any minute and I don’t fancy getting caught in it! Seems a lazy day ahead for me. New topic for the day- how do you cope with feeding others in long fasts?? My mother suffers from a TBI and seizures and is unable to take care of herself. I help her to wash, dress, and I cook and clean for my parents as well. My dad is a farmer and usually works from sunup to sundown so I will end up doing the meals for them before going home. I don’t feel so very tempted in the morning or lunch, but it’s dinner that I struggle with wanting! Probably because my OMAD is usually dinner so that’s my routine kicking in. Anyways, if anyone has any tricks to make that struggle a bit less let me know!

It gets easier after Day 5. You’ll get to the point you enjoy watching others eat because you’ll no longer have hunger pangs. Until then focus on your ā€œwhyā€ and look upon it as a mental challenge.

It’s strange I really haven’t had hunger pangs at all, just the compulsive want to eat. But I still haven’t felt any hunger so I don’t know if that’s yet to come in the next couple days? It’s truly at this point just the addiction and habit of eating a meal or having a glass of wine when it’s my normal eating window.

Penn Jillette, of the famous magician duo Penn and Teller, says he learned ALL eating is habitual during his journey of losing 100 pounds.

Day 4-
78 hours and this morning I had that hit by a bus feeling when I woke up. Extreme head fog. Dizzy/ groggy and just kind of feel yucky. No headache or real hunger pangs still though so that’s making it easier! My sleep schedule is all wrong at the moment I can’t seem to fall asleep each night until around 4am or there about. Then once I am able to fall asleep I sleep well. I am not used to this at all- I normally have no trouble falling asleep around 10:30 and wake at 5 so I’m nearly falling asleep now close to when I usually wake up. But feeling good about the fast so far. It does seem like having this to keep in check with others is helping make each day continue without being tempted to break my fast!

I have the same problem with sleeping… hope it gets better tonight because I have to wake up really early for my exam tomorrow.
In my first longterm fast I also had extreme head fog and it will get better. Just stay patient (like you already are I guess )

Okay struggling with will power this evening. I have been thinking of justifications and reasons to break my fast… I seem to always struggle the most in day 4 and 5 which has always caused me to break my fast at 5 days. I’m still going but it’s a mental battle with myself right now. Help! :disappointed:

Have you tried taking more electrolytes? That might help or acv and salt. Find a distraction to pass some time. You can get through this.
