Mat's 42 day waterfast progress

During lockdown much like everyone I spent a lot of time at home munching on snacks and eating unhealthily. Before lockdown I was in the office, and as I had a high pressure finance job I didn’t have time to eat large lunches regularly so I kept the weight down.

I’m now looking to return to office life soon and need to lose weight to get back into my suits!

I have 7 weeks, so targeted 6 weeks water fasting and 7 days refeed after doing my research. I’m now 2.5 weeks in, and the scales are already showing a difference as well as dropping 2 inches off the waist. I’ve attached a copy of my weight tracker app which reads direct from the scales.

I have struggled, first few days were difficult but I simply kept my mind on the end goal. I always go to bed at the same time to get a good night’s rest. I also drink 4 cups of black coffee in the morning to kick-start my metabolism.

My other bad habit is that I’m a smoker. One challenge I’ve found is that the caffeine from the coffee and nicotine can leave me dry heaving which is unpleasant. I’m also getting some pretty nasty acid reflux and the taste in my mouth is getting worse and worse as time goes by. I’ve tried apple cidre vinegar with mother and water to no avail.

I use pink himalayan salt for days when I feel rough, but overall I’m pleased with my progress. Hunger pains are gone, I feel like I have more focus in my mind. I’m waiting for the weight loss per day to decrease, as at the moment I’m tracking around 1.2-1.5lbs a day, when I was expecting only 0.5lbs. There are some days where the weight doesn’t go down, but it always picks back up again the next day so I’m guessing it’s something to do with water retention.

Overall, pleased with the progress but it is a challenge! Just trying to take it one day at a time!

Hey, I am inspired. I did a 20 day fast to “uncovid” last fall and lost 15. I still have a good 15-20 to go.
If you need a check in partner let me know. I am “Day One” here, again, after many shorter fasts this year (2, 3 days at the most). I just need to focus on the end goal like you said vs succumb to how I feel at the moment (bored).

I want my clothes to drape on me vs me feel stuffed in them. I also want to be able to wear basically whatever I want and look good in it. I have my calendar marked through mid April to fast.
