Mary Joy's (3 consecutive ) 21 day Water Fasts

Day 16 of my third 21 day water fast…
I went for a very loooong hike, and I did not take water with me…I was exhausted afterwards, and my plans to make fermented veggies went right out the window. I was a couch potato instead and listened to my new audio book, called, FIBER FUELED. It is a really informative book from a Gastro doc, and he gives very good reasons, based on the latest research on gut flora, that this Keto diet is NOT good for our gut bacteria. I really did not want to a lot of meat and eggs, dairy…I have been vegetarian, for a long time and did try fish/meat during these refeeds, but just did not enjoy it. I can eat the occational fish, like at a restaurant, but I am not really into making it at home. So, I will follow my gut, so to speak, literally, LOL: Not much more to report. I feel kinda boring. I am not trying on clothes, but I did find my really good tape measure that had gone M.I.A. for a long time, and measured my body yesterday, and the other, less precise measuring tape that I had used recently was soooo way off! I have dropped a lot of inches, more than I thought. That was a nice experience. So, note to myself, when I go hiking tomorrow: TAKE WATER WITH YOU!!! Happy Fasting…

58 days of water fasting and you managed to go on a hike of all things… incredible. The finish line is sooooo close, I can’t wait to read your final stats.

Congrats on the measurement success! Thats really the best gauge for how you’re changing and great to see those numbers improve. Agree w/Reemy… I amazed you were able to hike… and going agin tomorrow. Thats great!

Day 16… you are on the home stretch! Good work!!

THANK YOU for you kind words. I really appreciate it.
LOL…I forgot my water on my hike today!! Tomorrow, I’ll go for another long hike with the dogs, only this time, I will bring the water. I really do not think I will be at the real finish line, when I am done with this fast. I had, originally like more than 60 lbs. of excess weight to release. I originally weighed 93 kg. and I will consider my goal as 63 kg. And I honestly do not believe I will be 70 kg. when I stop this extended fast. I tried on, about a week ago, a skirt I wore, a couple of years ago, when I thought I was “fat”…I weighed 70 kg. then. And when I tried on that skirt, last week, I could not zip it up. I was so bummed out. I had to remind myself this is about healing and health, and not if some skirt fits me! So I do not think I will fit into this skirt in the next 5 days. IF I am below 70 kg. when I finally weigh myself on the21st day, I will stop. If I am like 76-78 kg., like I think I will weigh, then I will continue fasting until 30 days. Whenever I stop this extended fast, my strategy is to refeed every day, for a week, and then fast from Sunday evening until Friday evening and eat food until Sunday evening. Friday will be OMAD, and Saturday will be an 8 hour window, and Sunday will be a 4 hour window. And that is how I will proceed until I reach my goal. Bye for now, and happy fasting!

Thank you, Kyle! I really appreciate the kind words. I found the correct measuring tape, with the ability to very accurately measure the body. The other, typical measuring tape was so bogus.
Yeah, when one is “coasting” on the fast, it really is fine to hike…But remember to take the water with, LOL…lesson learned. I live in N. Germany and it was not too warm today, and also won’t be tomorrow. Perfect for climbing around in these old forrests (Teutoburger Wald). Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Day 19 of my third 21 day fast…My body noticed I was getting close to 21 days, and has been relentless with the endless food thoughts! Oh, groan! I still have not decided to end the fast at 21 days. I will get on the scale and then decide. More and more of my old, size 40 clothes (size 8-10 U.S.?) are starting to fit, and the “whoosh-effect” is still doing it’s thing, and I just LOVE it. Well, I still have this weird, big belly, love handles and extra flesh on the back, That is not gone yet.
I did not sleep well last night. I ended up listening to a audio book by Dr. Michael Greger, called, HOW NOT TO DIET. I bought the physical book and the audio and man, it is looooong. I have had my problems with Dr. G. He is so gun-ho, pro vaccines, I could just pimp-slap him. And on the chapter about water, he does not talk about the U.S.A.'s horrible tap water, and he is cool if one wants to drink it. Since I was curious about his two cents on “diets”, I began the book (audio) yesterday, while at the sauna, and it was really rather ok…From what he found out by reseach, he makes a credible argument that if one wants to drop the extra kilos, then up the fiber, and eat earlier in the day, and not later in the evening. And there were other very solid, usable tidbits. I already know from his website, that he is against fasting (after investigating it for like a week, and not doing any fasting himself. He just draws his conclusions from the scientific literature.) So, I will skip that chapter, I can tell you that. He thinks fasting slows down the metabolism (he is so proven wrong), and claims one will “waste” muscle mass, and get (I am literally groaning at his immense ignorance) re-feeding syndrome. Now I am just sighing…And rolling my eyes. It is like those “experts” who claim a keto diet causes ketoacidosis…Dr. G. claims no one should do extended fasting (longer than a couple of days) without a doc’s supervision. He sites True-North Clinic, which is run by a bunch of chiropractors in white, with the classic stethoscope “look”, to add credibility. Boy, that place is expensive…I can drink my water at home, and save my money. My doc is a 20 min. drive away, if I want him, and usually, like now, I don’t. I will finish the tomb of a book, minus his chapter on fasting…I am having an uneventful day 19. So, see you all tomorrow. Happy Fasting.

All of manifesting will tell you about visualizing first and yes, the only time this may be a hindrance is near the end of a fast. Not every time, but several times this starts to rev up my head and digestive system too quickly.

The mental side of the fasting adventure could definitely use some research and strategies on controlling.

So many people struggle with even getting through 24 hours, and then people like you go weeks and most of it is or seems effortless.

Maybe their “why’s” just aren’t compelling enough? Or is there buried DNA memories they are battling?

I recently saw a show about cultures who has a famine issue, and the children of people who survived that and their children all had shorter life spans or other health issues more prominent than people who’d not been exposed.

I’ve also seen things where the genes in a baby apparently can get memories in the genes from the mother - and it can take 7 generations for old feelings or experiences to dissolve. Interesting concepts.

Anyway you are doing amazingly fabulous! May the finish come with ease and when you decide you’re truly ready. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello! Congrats on another 21 down (almost - so close!)… I loved reading another fellow faster against vacines, tap water, doctors in white coats and paying someone thousands of dollars to fast for a week or two when you can do it from your own home, etc… People are duped everyday and it makes my skin crawl how people blindly believe everything in the media and doctors advise. Great post and you are most inspiring with your committee to fasting !!

Thanks, Jill, for your thoughtful reply. I think my discipline was born out of desperation-I did not want to go under the knife, and the doc telling me I was overweight was humiliating. He was inferring that my knee problem was due to extra weight and not the nasty fall I had. He even had the MRI right in front of him. Sigh…
I decided to stop at 21 days. Tomorrow I weigh myself.

Yup, I am on my last day…I decided to stop the extended fast. The cat food is looking and smelling (WTF!) very yummy. Gross.
I decided to get on the scale tomorrow, and my plan is to refeed every day for a week, and then I will do a reverse 5:2.: fast 5 days, eat 2…until the whole 60 extra pounds are gone.
Yeah, I was a pre-med student, and changed my major, when I realized that Big Pharma was dictating all medical programs in the western world. Eff that. I could tell you stories…
So, thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it very much.

Day 21 of this third 21 day water fast!!! I decided I do not need to go overboard, and do 30 days. I think 3 consecutive, 21 day fasts is enough.
I am on the last day, and went shopping for veggies. Getting very excited. Every one in the line was buying coke, crap food and more crap. I was the only human with all sorts of various veggies in the cart. Hmmm, either I am weird, or they are. I do not find potato chips, coke, frozen dinners, candy attractive at.ALL. I wanna have avocado, salad, and some green beans.
Tomorrow.
Fasting is really psychological. My mind knows tomorrow I will eat, and it is suddenly soooo hungry. It is nuts. I am slugging down vinegar and water like crazy. I do not know how I wil ever sleep.
I am not doing a refeed journal, nor will I post here photos. I will give my photos to Yasemin to post, if she wants to. Tomorrow, I will put here, my starting weight and finish weight, plus measurements.
Bye for now.

Congratulations!! Inspiring to read about your journey ! Simply awesome ! :slightly_smiling_face:

I have been in awe of your dedication and commitment. You’re a very strong woman. I’m looking forward to reading your results tomorrow. I’ve done only shorter fasts, but it is strange how when I know I’m going to eat again soon, I get painfully ravenous. Sounds like you’re having the same problem.

Hi Mary,
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry to hear about your losses. That must be unbelievably difficult to cope with. You are a source of inspiration for continuing on.
I have had some setbacks in life and want to do the Rudolf Breuss 42-day fast after reading two books about it, as well as my friend’s brother did it and cured his illness that no doctors could. I am dealing with a condition that doctors haven’t been able to find a cure exactly, and want to under this prolonged fast. I am a bit concerned about taking enemas and the refeeding part. I was wondering if you do any consulting about the Breuss fast, or if I could speak with you directly?
Best,
Joe

Hi, lose42,
I am so sorry to be reading this in October, when you wrote this in July! I activated now, that I would recieve, to my email account all replies to any of my posts.
If you ever come back to this site, yes, I would be glad to help you navigate the Breuss Fast. I have done it a total of 6 times. One thing I can highly reccommend is, do not buy any bottled juices. Make the juice yourself and measure the veggies in grams, and make the juices fresh. Remember it is only 500 ml. of juice/day, and the teas are important.
I wish us all complete healing. Bye for now.
