Jstar is trying (an 18 day journey)

This isn’t day 1 (actually, Monday is), but I figured it’d be nice to start writing everything up now. Now that I live alone, in an entirely different country with only my small kitten as company (don’t worry, he’ll be well fed!), I think it’s time I finally take control. I lost 20lbs on accident since I moved and I’ve lost an additional 4lbs this past month.

So far, that makes my CW/SW (Current weight/Starting weight) at around 204.5. Not what I’d like, especially on my 164cm frame, so I’m definitely gonna try and see this water fast through. In the case that I might feel hungry/or at a gathering, I may have to intermittent fast, but I’m definitely shooting for 18 days. So, that’s from December 23rd to… January 9th, a week or so before my b-day.

Anyway, yeah, that’s my entry. See you guys.

Tomorrow is the last day I’m having food. Even if I’ve been invited to have Christmas Eve and Christmas with one of my co-workers at their home, a part of myself thinks they were just being nice, ha ha.

So, I’m not holding on too hard on the idea of eating dinner on X-mas, but it’s the though that counts. Be merry. Be happy. My last meal will be lu… which is a traditional dish here on my Polynesian island, full of veggies and a big bottle of water. Wish me luck, and happy holidays. <3

Day 1 (5:00 am to 9:10 am) - Very simple. I woke up at my normal time and did my thing. The hunger hasn’t hit me yet, but I’ll be back to write more. My kitty doesn’t notice either, but I’m sure he’s more focused on himself atm.

@Miko @Anna

Thanks to both of you, I really appreciate the support, even if it’s small. I haven’t been accepted to the fb group yet, but I can’t wait to speak to more of us!

It’s a good idea to stay distracted the first couple of days to take your mind off the potential hunger!
You got this! :muscle:

Hang tough the 1st 3 days. The transition from glucose-burning to fat-burning is one of the toughest challenges then once Ketosis kicks in it starts suppressing the production of ghrelin, better known as the hunger hormone.

Day 1 - (9:15 am - 12:00 pm)

Started drinking my water! I bought 2 1.5 L bottles for drinking water for the next two days. One of the teachers I work with invited me for Christmas eve & Christmas, I accepted originally, now I feel like I may have to cancel for eve. I’m trying to keep myself from eating (at all) during this fast, but if I have to, I rather be one day behind than 2!

@Compdude It’s super tough! Especially when it comes to sugar and caffiene. I have a big bag of cereal locked away and I definitely won’t be touching it. Might even have to give it away lol

@Anna Walking and watching movies is a good idea. I live near a beach front, so I always try to take a walk and take in the views for a few minutes before going back home.

@jstar1992 try to shoot for a 1 to 2 mile daily walk. Nothing more strenuous because fasting puts stress on the body. Aim to walk before your first meal in the morning for maximum benefit. It will help you monitor your energy level and to speed up the final bowel movement in your prolonged fast.

Hi Jstar

I have completed 24 hours of fasting already.
Today was an easy task since I’m not working, but will have to put more effort tomorrow for sure.
Even thought I did not drink at all today, I haven’t felt thirsty. I’m not sure if that’s fine…or I should be drinking water anyways…will check how I feel tomorrow and start hydration. :slightly_smiling_face:. See you tomorrow and good luck! :cherry_blossom:

Day 1 - (12:00pm - 1:47pm)

Kind of a quick update but I felt like writing this up now since it just happened. Got a slight headache at around 1:30, got some pink himalayan salt to take care of it.

@Compdude Good idea on the walking tip, it’s still a bit warm right now, but it cools at around 5:00 to 6:30 pm, my time, so I might do my walk then.

@Miko Hi Miko, I do suggest try getting some water each day. While dry fasting is a thing, I just think it’s good to stay hydrated in general! Cheers to 24 hrs, here’s hoping I can make it. 9pm will make it 24 hrs for me. I wonder how I should celebrate?

Hey there! Another update, might be my last for today. In about 2 hrs, I’ll have completed 24hours of water fasting! Not much has changed, headaches are gone after some salt and coffee and I feel good. I mediated. I didn’t get to have my afternoon walk, but maybe tomorrow.

I’ll be frank, I woke up lightheaded. But I took some time to myself to get ready and now I’m (still gotta brush and floss tho haha). Hope everyone is well.

Hey @jstar1992,

How are u doing?

I was doing pretty well until I messed up with Mate. I think my first two days are being quite easy because I’ve tried OMAD an keto before, and although I ate sugar afterwards, my body maybe remember how to enter ketosis faster? I don’t know :slightly_smiling_face:

What I know is that I won’t give up with the fasting.

Wishing the best of the lucks! :four_leaf_clover:

Hey @Miko, pretty standard today. No headaches yet, but I’m being a couch potato lol. Tomorrow I’m going to my coworker’s house for Christmas so intermittent fasting for Christmas it is! I can’t wait to progress and I’m cheering you on, too.

Day 3 - (5:00 am - 7:06 am)

Merry Christmas and Happy holidays from me! It’s Christmas where I am, and it’s also my IF day, at around 10, I’ll be visiting my coworker’s family for the day. I’ll be strict with my water intake and try to avoid overfeeding with mentioning that I’m dieting, which is weirdly effective in this country? Trying out 18:6, today!

On an unrelated note my laptop is busted, completely, I have 2 phones and a iPad, but I’m supposed to be teaching kids how to speak English AND make a website next year, so I have to talk to my principal about where I can go. Lol

Welcome to Day 4!

I immediately started fasting after I left my coworker’s home. As a bonus, her grankids were adorable and she gave me a bunch of limes I can make line water with! I ended Christmas with a walk to the beach and saw stars!

Today, I’m starting with some coffee, and then back to back water fasting to the weekend. After day 17 or 16 of my fast, I am going to purchase a scale

A quick update/interruption: As you all know, I live on an island country, which is unfortunately in the path of a cyclone (she’s dying down, so finger’s crossed I can go back home and go back to my fasting routine + see my kitty again very very soon), so my organization has forced us all to evacuate to a nice hotel. Unfortunately, I have indulged, so I feel awful. I feel the need to take a longer fast, this time to my birthday in January. I do not want to step back from this, my friends. But I would love your support at this time! Thank you for following me this far.
