Jose's Daily Journal

Hey there everyone!

I am excited to join the community of fellow Fasters! For several months now i have been on and Off OMAD as well as 16/8 IF.
I stumbled upon intermittent fasting a little while ago and continued to do research on that for a bit. I then stumbled into water fasting from that and read people have felt better than ever while doing water fasting. I suffer from asthma amd even read people who have done water fasting dont need to use their inhaler and get treatments as frequently. For the past week or so i have been doing OMAD and noticed i only really got hungry during my meal time only. Now i am finally going to give water fasting a shot
I have done the lemonade diet before(about 10 years ago) and lasted 4 days. But thinking back to it now, i was just putting lemon juice and maple syrup in my body which couldnt have been all that great.

I ended my last meal at 11pm (a little late, i know) and weighed myself at midnight. I am keeping track of my hours on the LIFE Fasting App and took some before pics
Cant wait to continue logging in my progress and feelings
I plan to do the fast for possibly 14 days
I will listen to my body though and if it needs to be fed, i will do so and start another fast after im feeling better

Starting weight
245.8

Goal(for this fast)
220

Goal(long term)
180 and to feel better and hopefully subside my asthma symptoms

Welcome to the forum! It’s a great tool to journal the fasting progress and share experiences and feelings with others that are on the same journey!
I’m looking forward to follow your way to your goals! :droplet::droplet::tada:
Happy fasting!

@JoseJ. Welcome to our fasting community. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

In regards to asthma I’m going to alert @Yasemin as she’s been able to cure her asthma and sleep apnea with extended fasts.

You seem to me set up for success. All the work that you’ve been doing has prepped your body for the more strenuous rigor of an extended water fast and you’re experienced enough you know to check with your body daily to evaluate whether you should continue.

I wish you well!

@JoseJ Lemon juice & maple syrup is the MASTER CLEANSE hyped up by Beyoncé several years ago. With cayenne pepper etc. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, it might work but it’s better to do a pure water fast because the maple syrup is sugar and kind of defeats the purpose of fasting to reduce insulin resistance.

Regarding your puffer - I haven’t used mine in a while and I used to be quite dependant on it. Losing weight helped me clear my mild sleep apnea and allowed me to stop using my puffer. I used to get winded SO FAST. This being said, the first time I did an extended fast of 21 days was the first time I completely forgot about my puffer immediately and still now it’s been several months and I haven’t used it.

The only correlation I have to using my puffer is that sometimes I use my puffer if I overeat, I think something to do with overeating and obstructing my airways or something. Very strange. I will document it in case it happens again!

25 hours into the fast and i have used my nebulizer machine once!! I usually use it twice a day.

I also need my inhaler after i eat even if i dont over eat i feel like i do. I try to stay away but if it gets too bad i tend to use it and feel loads better

Day 2?? Maybe??
Well the start of day 2 haha it is 25 hours into my fast and yes i am hungry but i could do without just some growling nothing i cant handle. I just miss chewing. I feel like i need to chew on something.
I did get very small head aches at around 18 hours, but they’re small and last about 30 seconds
Did not weigh myself, but i will in the morning which will be about 32 hours into my fast.
I have not put any salt into my water or taken any potassium or magnesium, I MIGHT put some into my water when i wake up.

Will update at 48 hours!!:grin:
Feeling goooood

:partying_face::partying_face::partying_face: Great!!

I gave in:confounded::pensive::persevere:
Im disappointed but im also really proud that i got to 42 hours of fasting.

The funny thing is i wasnt even hungry though! I could have definitely made it to day 3. I just missed the act of chewing something.
I ate a big enough meal in order to dive into another fast right after. Im debating on whether to try alternate day fasting to prepare myself a bit better for a long fast, but i am really going to try for 6 days this time(14 was a bit of a stretch).

Back to day 1
I weighed myself before i ate and i was 235(lost 11 lb in 42 hours!!!) and after i ate i was 240(obviously because i was stuffed with food)
Im excited to start again!!

Congrats on getting as far as you did. Learn from it and build on it as you now have a benchmark to measure your progress.

A suggestion: how about ice :ice_cube: to chew on for next time?
