Day 7 completed!:heavy_check_mark:

I’m so excited!!! week 1 is complete, now I just have 3 to go… I’m getting there.
I finally bought the battery for my scale, so I will be able to weigh myself in the future, however, I don’t know if I want to do it tomorrow because my period came yesterday and I’m feeling so bloated:/

Today was such a busy day, and I feel like I ran a marathon… I woke up relatively early and had to go to the bank to resolve some issues. So I had to walk for 30 minutes to get there, stayed 2 hours in line, then 30 more minutes back home. I haven’t exercised in forever, so that’s a lot to me right now, especially because I’m fasting. The back of my legs are sore and I just feel like laying down all day without moving, and that’s what I’ll do for the rest of the day.

I will probably weigh myself when my period is over because I’m bloated and I don’t want that to make a difference, but I know I lost some weight.

Day 8 & 9 completed!:heavy_check_mark:

Hi,
I’m sorry I didn’t update yesterday… I have been having some personal issues and I’ve been feeling kinda depressed for the past 3ish days which is not good for my fast, but I didnt break the fast, which is actually pretty strong of me.

Anyways, as I said I’ve been feeling low, and I got the battery for my scale and decided to weigh myself yesterday, I lost 3.9kg in 8 days and today I weighted the same. I’m honestly kind of disappointed. I usually lose 0.5kg per day but I never had a day I didn’t lose while fasting anf that happened right when I started weighing myself, so that didn’t help with my already affected mood.

I think my body is getting used to this fasting thing, I dont know if it’s because I did many times now, or my body just don’t want to lose weight anymore. My knee pain is ok, but I have a back pain that is annoying me.
I don’t know if I should stop the fasting for now and do like a cycle of ADF or fasting 1 week/eating 1week or just keep going even with the pain and no weight loss.
What do you guys think?
At this point I think my mental health is not getting better, it’s getting worse. But I don’t want to gain the weight back and stop losing all together. I still want to be strong and achieve my goal by November.

I am also stuck. I was on a 14 day fast where I was stuck for 7 days with no weight loss in May 2020. It was VERY discouraging and frustrating.

Had to take a break and go on OMAD and calorie counting for month of June.

I have been fasting on and off this month and still stuck. Just on a current fast and gained 0.6 lb!!! I am going to keep going until my BBQ with my friends next Friday. After BBQ, going to go for 21 days.

After 21 days, going to take a break for 2 weeks.

I am still doing a lot of research on the subject of plateau and weight set point. And so far, I have found many recommending to take a 1-2 week break (eating at maintenance) after 4-8 weeks of dieting as your body is so good at adapting. Someone had also recommended carb cycling but that didn’t work for me. Another recommendation from someone who was doing extended fasting was to go for a long walk and that seemed to work for me when I did plateau while on my fast.

Hope you find a solution but don’t give up!!! Do what is best for your physical health and mental health. Your journey is unique and different from everyone else.

Oh another thing: Yasemin had mentioned something about the “whoosh effect” - keep going and then magically one day, weight just drops.

Wow! 7 days plateau during a fast must be really hard, I can’t imagine.
I’m an anxious person, so if I don’t see change in 2 days I’m already freaking out, which I know is not good at all but that’s just how I am. When I want things I want them now, or I always set a timeline or something.

I already have a meal plan set up. Actually I usually meal prep because I don’t like to cook, so I always make food for 5-7 days in one day, and it’s usually the same thing everyday. Many people say I’m crazy because how can I eat the same thing everyday, but I honestly don’t care. And sometimes I eat out, in the weekend for example so I have that change. It works for me.

Yeah, I did some research too and found the same as you… 1-2week break and then some time fasting, but people who do that usually don’t do very long fasts, from what I saw. It’s usually 1-2weeks. That’s why I thought about doing 1 week OMAD(counting calories and macros), then 1 week fast. But I’m still thinking about it.

What I know for sure is that I’m gonna finish at least 10 days, which I’ll complete tonight.

Thank you for all the insight, it’s really helpful. I need to consider everything before making a decision.

Day 10 completed!:heavy_check_mark:

Hi, today has been hard. I’m so hungry and I’m usually not hungry after day 5. But today I’m so so hungry and it’s annoying. I have a massive headache and back pain… My legs are weak and I just feel awful.
Honestly I think my mental health is playing a big part on how I’m feeling and not the actual fast, and because of that I think I’m gonna break my fast today.
I’m still proud for being able to do 10 days even with the worst mindset.

So now my plan is(at least for 1-2 months): FAST: Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, Eat: Wednesday-Sunday(low carb, counting macros and calories)

What are your opinions?
Should I keep posting?
I thought I could do a weekly update or maybe even daily if I have the time. Talking about how the fast days and calories for the days I eat and all that.
As I said before I usually prepare my meals for the entire week and it’s usually the same thing so it wouldn’t have much difference. Maybe add something if I feel like it but that’s it. So I can post those details daily or weekly. I’m still thinking which would be best.

I hope everyone is staying strong and take care of your mental health!

Are you getting your electrolytes in? Sounds like you need fluid, salt, etc.

You can try a 3-day fast followed by 4 days eating and see how you like it. I’ve done some extended fasts, but right now every other day is what works for me since I am doing heavy lifting three days a week.

You are right that you have to pay attention to your emotional state. Give yourself what you need and not what the old Reptilian part of your brain wants-- all the stuff you will regret having/doing later on.

I thought it could be that for a moment. But it was not, my mental state was really affected. My mom even called me one day and decided to have a talk with me because she was noticing some signs of depression and that I needed to talk(she’s more like my friend, we’re close so we have the liberty to talk about everything).

Anyways, we talked and that day I decided to break the fast, which was Saturday if I’m not mistaken.

I didn’t know about that challenge… I’ll definitely follow that now. Even though I broke my fast I like following people in the same path as me. It’s a long journey for everyone.

Hi,
I broke my fast on July 17th, Friday. That was when I completed 10 days. I decided that was the best for me because I was really down… Since then, my mood has been a bit better and I’ve been more active.

I didn’t weigh myself since Saturday morning because I honestly don’t even want to think about the weight right now, even though I’m scared I’ll gain, I’m more worried about my mental health.

I didn’t break my fast the best way, which was 2 eggs with olive oil. It’s not good because it’s protein, but I was okay since it wasn’t that long of a fast(just 10 days).
I went grocery shopping on Saturday and meal prepped for the entire week the same day. I did a tofu mix thingy(tofu, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, cilantro, seasonings), it’s really good!! So I’ve been eating that every day. I use like a filling for a lettuce wrap and it’s delicious. It’s low in calorie, around the 500 calories and low carb. Sometimes I add some cheese, or mustard but nothing much.

I’ll probably weigh myself next week and update with my weight and if I changed something in my meal plan.
