I'm New and today I'm starting my first fast!

Hi everyone! This site/forum is so great.

I’m 5’3" and I weighed in at 191 lbs a couple of days ago. I couldn’t cry because I was so shocked! After seeing that number, I was so upset with myself. I knew that I gained some weight during quaranting but I didn’t realize that I was almost 200 pounds!

I decided to kickstart my journey with a fast and that’s how I found Yasemin on Youtube. Which ultimately led me to this amazing forum.

I made my stickies, I have my jug, and I’m about 6 hours into my very first 30 day fast right now, and I’m feeling confident.

Great to have you here. Support systems are the BEST! This is my first fast as well and we are very close to weight/height. I am on day 4 and the only thing that has helped me through those first days was binge watching videos and this forum. Looking forward to seeing your journey!

Welcome! I am new, too, and am presently on day 6, of a 21 day water fast. I, too, was totally shocked that I had gained more than 5kg. in 3 months. I had never weighed over 200 lbs. before. So, that is just one reason I am fasting, but my main reason is that I hurt my right knee, and the doc is giving me 8 weeks to see if my knee gets better and if not, I might have to go under the knife, yikes. Being overweight puts too much stress on the knees. I also have Gonarthritis, which is arthritis in the knee. I noticed, yesterday morning that the pain I feel in the knee while descending the stairs, which has been there, since I injured the knee (I fell down some stairs, sigh), is gone! And today, the pain is still gone. I am rather flabbergasted. Today, I woke up feeling quite weak, so I just now drank hot water with 1/4 teaspoon salt, and cayanne pepper and it tastes like broth. My legs feel stronger, so it worked. Watch any and all water fasting videos, to stay committed. On my 2nd day, at about 48 hours into my fast, the inner brat, who wants me to eat all the time, said, " 48 hours is plenty. Let us go eat!" and it took me about 20 min. of consciously arguing with the nagging brat to get it to shut up. In that time I drank a big glass of water, and remembered that my knee HAS only 8 weeks to show improvement, so I gotta get the extra kg. off this body, ASAP, and not in a half a year’s time. And it worked. Since then, the brat has gone quiet. I wish you all the success you can imagine!
