Hoping for a 30 day fast!

Long time reader. First time journal-er :upside_down_face:
So today was day 1 of my fast. I haven’t done a long term fast in years but I was able to do 7 day, 3 day, 48 hr in the past few months to get me geared up for this moment. Had a headache today but that was easily remedied with pink H salt.

I look through old photos of me and I’m sad that I allowed myself to get here. From 160 to 225 in only a few years. I tried to use all the time we’ve had at home to lose weight and I was able to get down to 173! Then my pregnant sister coaxed me into eating badly for a week and it was over. I’m back up to 218 now. And depressed. She’s lost almost all the baby weight haha.

I’ve decided to do some light exercise, just walking on the treadmill and squats and crunches but I want to start a few days in to adjust well to my fast as my last 7 day one was rough without supplements and I had to have broth with salt to stop the muscle cramps.

Tl;Dr
Gained weight, pandemic free time didn’t help as much as I thought. Did fasts before, not a 30 day one. Supplements are key for me, including pink salt.

Day 1 weight: 219
Goal weight: 160

I would love, love, love to reach my goal by my birthday in mid July but I know how crazy that sounds. Less than 3 months and 60 lbs!? So I just want to take it how it is. Let’s do 30 days and see if I can extend it to 40. Regardless, going to do IF after I’ve completed my water fast.

Hello! I hope all is well, can we please exchange information? I need fasting buddy…today is day 1 for me. My cell number 510-882-2599. We can really motivate each other! Thank you!

510-882-2590 this is my correct cell phone!

Welcome to the forum! We don’t know you are here unless you are posting.

The simple general math is you will lose half a lb of weight for each 24 hours of fasting. 30 days may take you past 30lbs, but there will be weight coming back on during refeed - which you should consider taking 14 days for as it is a delicate process. You’ll wind up with roughly 15 to maybe 20 lbs of progress lost weight - but don’t let that discourage you. Progress is progress!

Do a mindful refeed, and then get back on the fasting horse again, or try going into OMAD - it’s possible to keep losing with that, just not as fast (from my personal experience, your results may vary).

Also I’ll add from my personal experience, it can take time for the mind to catch up with what the body has released.

Either way, good luck and a big cheer from the cheer squad! Stick with it!

@Miramar thank you for the message. I really want to start the process, however I have done this before and i always fail. I’m interested to see if someone is open to do this journey with me…

Hi @Prableen, I just messaged you. I’m not sure what time zone you’re in though. But I’d love to be your fasting buddy!
The correct number, I messaged that one. Lmk if you receive it. (:

Okay, that is good to know @Miramar. Thank you for welcoming me and sharing that! :hugs:
I will definitely have to research a good refeed plan for when I complete my fast. I was looking at Yasemin’s videos for this but I think I should wait till I’m a bit further in my fast as it already made me hungry haha.

Okay y’all,
Day 2 update!
Well I am not going to weigh myself daily bc I know I would obsess over it so I’m going to aim for weekly weigh ins.
Today was better than yesterday for sure. Headache did not come and I think its bc I took my supplements before bed. Potassium, magnesium, calcium and zinc. I slept okay but for only 6 hours which is 2 hours less than I’m used to.
I drank water, alkaline water and a 0 cal water infusion. Ate a pinch of pink salt. Did 30 mins on the treadmill and a light strength workout after. Feeling pretty good. My hunger comes and goes.

Day 3 down!
Supplements were taken and I had to drink 2 Gatorade zero after my workout. But had over 100 Oz of regular water and no salt!! Didn’t need it today.
But I was more hungry than the past two days. Hoping I will pass this hump in the next couple of days. I will say I felt more focused overall. But days seem to drag on and you get bored without food haha. Thinking about it, cooking it, eating it and ofc cleaning up after it. My days are so empty. Been working out, trying to learn Spanish and working on my sleep schedule. But failing that last one. :upside_down_face:
Anyway, can’t wait to weigh in on day 7 and see how far I’ve come. Definitely feeling less bloated.
