Finding healthier ways to self-soothe

Hi guys. This isn’t really a journal but I didn’t know where else to put it…

I realized a few days ago that I’ve been using food to self-soothe (I know, I’m a slow learner :grinning:). After googling for better options to deal with stress/feelings, I came across this book:


Not to be too dramatic about it, but it’s been life-changing for me. I feel like my eyes are finally open and I’m living my life with awareness, instead of numbing out on carbs all the time. Now, to be honest, the next couple of months are going to be rougher than usual and I have no doubt that journalling and mindfulness may not cut it all the time. I’m over in the UK helping a friend while she goes through terminal cancer. It’s very, very hard and not likely to get easier any time soon.
Anyway, it’s been helpful for me and after reading a lot of journals on this site, I thought one or two of you might find it useful.
