Farhan's Fasting Journal - Going for 30 Days

I started checking out on water fasting at the end of December and decided to try it on January 1st. Coincidentally, I found out about Fast Forward to Health’s YouTube channel and would love to not miss out on this opportunity of sharing my fasting journey to everyone!

I’ve done dry fasting every year for 1 month at the range of 13 hours, hopefully this will support me to be familiar with water fasting in a long period of time. I gained weight tremendously last year because of depression and started binge eating until I gained 22 pounds, so I decided to start and possibly live 2020 with a better state of myself both mentally and physically. Since I have begun my fasting on 1st of January, I will start replying on the 3rd day and so on. I don’t have any specific goals of weight to lose, but my goal is to do it in 30 days and see how my body cooperates with it.

This 30 day will be quite a journey of getting myself in coming to my senses as I abstain myself from social encounters and start focusing on doing what’s best for me. I’m currently on my winter break so not much work will be done and I can relax myself to do other things that I love. Thank you for stopping by on my journal as I’m new here and would love to hear from other members of this community!

Day 1 - I felt tremendous mental starvation as my mind began to imagine a lot of sugary goods but I keep myself on looking at YouTube videos about water fasting journey so I got a pretty good grip on fighting my food cravings. I felt physical hunger too but I drank a lot of water to cope with that. I didn’t feel like I’m in a good mood to do anything beside resting on my couch.

Day 2 - The hunger kept kicking in and thoughts about food began to be vivid. I found out about Fast Forward’s To Health’s YouTube channel and kept myself motivated by watching the videos, as I was getting into the tipping point of wanting to break my fast. I felt horrible but I got through this phase and still fasting!

Welcome to our water fasting community.

Question for you. When you binged was it on the typical carb and sugar stuff?

The reason is if it is, you probably have a carb/sugar addiction and will need to address at some point. That’s because it makes fasting harder due to the cravings and causes people to fall off the wagon because once they get re-introduced to food they easily go back to binging.

Just my IMHO.

Yes, that’s totally what I felt during the first 3 days! I kept imagining about foods more vividly but as I fight those temptations I think I’m gonna be alright.

It felt like as if I was eating my feelings haha, The sugar rush and all of that may be relieving but at the end of the day I got headaches and I couldn’t wake up feeling not dizzy

Day 3 - This was probably the worst day, I got lightheaded every time I woke up and I started feeling to bloat so much. I guess the mistake was not taking salts and drinking too much water. I felt so proud that I got past day 3 and now the fun part begins!

A bit late to update my journal, I got so sleepy and decided to sleep out :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
Day 4 - My stomach rumbles a lot and I had my first acid reflux, so i drank apple cider vinegar to let it loose :cowboy_hat_face:, went pretty well and I kept myself busy by watching movies.

Ikr! I’m so proud I’m past day 3 and I couldn’t be happier to continue my fast. Now that the hard part is away I can focus on my habits and make myself be more productive during holidays.

Day 5 - I felt like I was in Day 3, constant hunger, vivid eating thoughts, and got so much fatigue. I ended up sleeping through the whole day :face_with_hand_over_mouth: One of the things that kept me on thriving was that my skin felt so smooth I thought I didn’t have to do much struggle on my skincare routine :smiley:

It’s great that you listen to your body and rest when you need to! I had a few of those days as well during my 30 day fast! Other days were the complete opposite instead, where I felt like I had energy like a five year old!
Keep staying strong! :muscle::muscle:

Best of luck for all of us ! It really is like a roller coaster but whenever I stay low, I let my body rest and fight with my thoughts on eating unhealthy foods :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
