Faina’s 21 Day Fast Journal
Starting day 5 …feeling good, not hungry, low-medium energy. It is difficult for me not to be active - my mind goes to that I need to move my body - because that’s my passion - I’m generally highly active - I have climbed mountains all over the world - including climbed the Himalayas three times - and several times a week here in the LA area. I feel like I should go lift weights at the gym and I know it’s not normal to just be sitting around at home or in the car - ancient man/woman was always moving, walking, carrying, climbing and that is our natural state - I’ve read we’ve barely evolved from there.
But it’s also not natural to have developed this emotional binge eating disorder and I know in my gut I need to rest, just be, and have faith and trust in the process of healing. So I go on walking meditations and allow myself to be a human being instead of human doing at home.
Life itself is the only appropriate binge and often while we are binging on food we are actually truly starving inside. This gift of a 21 day fast is the best one I could give myself - the gift of freedom from attachment to binging and I remind myself of this every day when my mind strays.
Finishing day 5 and starting day 6 so this fast is 1/4 down yay!!! Not much to report besides my sleep was off - stayed up until 2am then up at 6:30 to walk Teddy & then slept until almost 11 But at least I slept! My sleep is usually off during an extended fast. Otherwise no hunger - feel great. Uneventful is a good thing!

How is everyone? I had really upset stomach and was not feeling well. My sleep got switched to up all night & sleeping throughout the day. But feeling better now and hopefully over the hump
Halfway through day 4; feeling good and planning to head out on my walk soon.
Glad you’re feeling better (although an upset stomach makes fasting easier )
Happy September! How is everyone feeling/doing?
It’s my favorite month of the year so I am looking forward to fun things this month.
Fasting I am on the home stretch - almost - 8 days left here… I tried to drink caffeine a few times when I was feeling tired and it was a BIG mistake- never again! SO FUNNY because I literally grew up drinking coffee and black tea as a child but my body is too sensitive to it now- especially while fasting. I have had some bad days - both emotionally with stress and physically being tired/not feeling well from the caffeine but am feeling good, positive and will complete this successfully
I decided that I will break my fast on 9/9 and then do a juice fast for 2 weeks afterwards- since it is easier on my digestion and a good idea regardless. When I say juice fast- I do not literally mean juice- I have a vitamix and make my own green juices and things of the sort so they are low in sugar and contain the full nutrients of the whole veggie/fruit.
You are doing so great! Inspiring. It always feels so good to get through tough days and look back and pat yourself in the back for making it through! Great job and happy birthday to you coming up or passed?

I gave up caffeine about two weeks ago and the two times after that I had a coffee… WOW, did I notice a major difference (not in a pleasant way). Very revved up and I think (now) it contributed to my hunger on fasts as my hunger has been MUCH more manageable on fasting without caffeine.
